Re: My cat
There is a Yongsan Pet Care Facility (boarding) on base. You probably need to make reservations in advance.
I have no idea about the train. (We - DH,my SDIT, my SD and myself - had an interesting ride from the airport to Hannam Village, or so I'm told. I passed out.) I do know that the taxis on base will not pick you up if your pet isn't in a carrier. The only exception to that is a Service Dog. |

Re: My cat
Does anyone know how much it cost to have your pet stay at the vet for a couple of days?

Re: My cat
The pet care center isn't the vet. It is a boarding kennel that is just about on the opposite corner of South Post than the vet clinic. Yongsan South Post Bldg. 5256, DSN 736-6426, COMM 011-82-2-7916-6426
The last posted price per day is $10 per day for cats. Pet Care Center |

First, go to the USO DESK: They will instruct you how to get transportation. Buy $100.00 worth of won at the airport in case of late arrival. If it turns out that you can't get a free bus to the Dragon, you need to know that no regular bus or taxi can enter the Yongsan compound. If you can't arrange for an AFEES Taxi or bus to the Dragon you may have to ride an "Airport Limousine Bus" or an "Airport Van". Ask the price first. Bus, about 13,000 won, Van can be as high as 70,000. The bus or van goes to the Hamilton Hotel near Yongsan, where you can then call an AFEES taxi to take you the rest of the way to Dragon Hill Lodge, less than a mile away.
(I won't advise you about the cat, but I know what I would do until the next business day.) Last edited by Mr. Joe : 04-28-2008 at 09:48 AM. |

Re: My cat
From off-base dial: 7916-5113 - 7916-5114 - 7916-5115
From on-base: 736-5113/4/5 I believe there is a DSN telephone (US military phone) at the front desk of the Hamilton Hotel that is available to hotel guests, so you would use the on-base number to call from there. |

Re: My cat
And unless they get past the little "taxi strike" AFEES taxis aren't taking call-ins from 6-9AM and from 4-7PM. (If you take a different cab to the Hamilton.) I don't know what they are doing as far as people catching them from the airport.

Re: My cat
Cut and pasted from the Yongsan site:
Yongsan taxi drivers will not answer radio calls during peak hours during a labor dispute that started April 22. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has a contract with Arirang World Cup Taxi Ltd. to provide on-call and pick-up taxi services in Areas I and II. "The driver's plan is not answer the radio from 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m.," said AAFES Services Business Manager Kim Ae-kyong. The wage dispute is between the contract owner and the drivers. Arirang drivers went on a full strike for two weeks in July 2006. Since then, AAFES has contracted with another company to provide additional taxi service. However, that company does not take radio calls. USAG-Yongsan officials are monitoring the situation and have increased post shuttle service 3-5:30 p.m. to every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes, said Garrison Logistics Director Lydia Grohmann. "We also increased Hannam Village service by adding an additional shuttle bus at 4 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.," she said. "Starting April 24, we will offer another Hannam Village shuttle bus at 7:30 a.m." Grohmann said this is a temporary measure to look out for the community during the taxi labor dispute. ____ They are still running (as in you can catch one at a taxi stand, but they aren't dispatching to pick people up elsewhere). |
