First week( need advice)
Well, the first day when my husband told the army that we were here he got his ass chewed out. The threaten to kick us out and all kinds of stuff. He even had to go the sergent major. Then they said that they were going to try to get us CS. They did all the paper work and the screening. Now all we are waiting is on the response. does anyone know how long that usually takes?I dont know what to do. Should i go ahead and find an apartment when we get to taegu tuesday or should i wait in a hotel till we get it(CS)? I think the chances of us getting is good since they went through all the trouble in helping us with the whole paperwork and screening. They also said that there were alot of slots open. So anyone with any advice on what i should do regarding the apartment let me know.

Re: First week( need advice)
CS could take a few weeks to a couple of months. It all depends on how fast they try to push it through. Ours took about 4-6 weeks. We had ours pushed through by battalion the hold up was in getting the actual orders cut. That seemed to take forever. Good luck!

Re: First week( need advice)
Do you want CS?? Doesnt that mean you have to stay for 2 or 3 years instead of just one?? We have been here (Osan area) for a couple of weeks now, NCS and have already been offered CS, but we turned it down. If you get CS Im pretty sure they will make you move on base at least at some point during your 2 or 3 year stay. You dont have to accept CS. Dont let anyone make you feel pressured to stay for 2 or 3 years if you dont really want to. Good luck and just think it through and you and your husband do what you think is best for your family, dont feel pressured.

As far as being here for 2-3 years because of getting CS. They have the choice to add one or two years on for CS. We had two years added on to ours. Really though, if you're CS you'll have a car, be able to live on post, and have the opportunity to have your family together for more than a year. I believe you're husband is in the army...I'm sure you know what the chances are that he'll be home for two years in a row in the states. In MY opinion it's worth it. The only downside to Korea is it's expensive to fly back to the states commercially.

Personally, I don't know. There are differences between the way AF and Army do things. I would stick with the Sergeant Major's advice until you get down to Taegu.

Re: First week( need advice)
Well lets see.. My husband got his orders in March of 2007, we didn't find out if CS was approved until December.. That is just our case though. Good luck with getting your answer quickly

Working a CS packet through the system from the US and doing it locally are two different things in terms of how quickly and effectively it can be done. |

Re: First week( need advice)
well im going tommorow to taegue and the army is provinding the transportation but i dont know more than that yet. I dont mind staying here longer than a year. We had already planed on doing AIP so the only thing would be we be missing out on 300 dollars a month. I like here so far. I went out this weekend with my son and it was great. We went on the seoul city tour. The people are so nice here. I didnt see many americans while we were out. Its sad to think that the people here from the states dont venture out. I'm going to make the most i can out of this once in lifetime deployment. I really happy to be with my husband and to see a different part of the world. I'm loving it now. I never thought that i would be so lucky to get to say that i have traveled.......Anyways does anyone know if tha army will reimburst me for my plane ticket if we become CS?...................I got to talk to Mr. Joe but was unable to meet him because it would have took to long to get downstairs with the kids( we were all in pajamas) in time. but im sure there will be more chances. i sure would like to meet anyone here once i have been here a while and know how to get around. Everyone says we are lucky to be going to daegu so i'm excited about that. Well gtg get packed up for the trip tommorow. Will keep everyone posted.
Glad to be here!!!!!!!!!!
