I am trying to figure out how much we will be alloted for the move. Hubby is E6. He said 1/4 of the normal allowance??? Also should we bring our own couches and beds or just use what we can get from the Army? Thanks!

Need more info...........Are you command sponsored, Non-command sponsored..........where are you going and what ever else you can tell us. If you are non-command sponsored the the only weight he will be allowed to ship will be 500lbs. More to follow...just need to update us..

Re: question...
You should get upto 1/4% of your total allowance...but if you are CS then you shuold beable to get all the housing goods you need from the Army. Bring what yuo want at that point, just know you will beable to get it.

That's what we were told and how it played out with us as well. Good luck!

Re: question...
We are in the same situation as you, hubby (E6) is scheduled to go to Camp Casey and my son and I are heading to Hannam Village (CS). We had the standard 1/4 allowance (I think it equates to just over 3,000 lbs) We just shipped our things to Korea over the past two days, I don't think we were anywhere close to our allowance as we decided to utilise the Army furniture.. except we did ship our son's crib.
Good luck with the CS!! |

Re: question...
I think we will doing the same but I was just hoping to get a idea of how it looked..... Also how far is the place you will be staying to Camp Casey? Can't we just live closer to Camp Casey on the ecomony? When does he report? We don't till October/November.....

Re: question...
I just made my way to Casey today and it seemed as if there were apt's there as well (and one nice PX..as opposed to here at Camp Stanley)... however I live on the economy in Uijeongbu so i can't really say how nice they are, price..etc. I do know that our OHA was cut in half in Area I compared to the Yongsan area.
We didn't ship our couch or kitchen table. But we shipped our bed, tv's, pots/pans, movies, towels, couple of random bookshelves, computer, lamps, pictures, clothes and toys. We had two shipments (I think, could've been three)... our unaccompanied shipment ("express" shipment) mostly his military gear, things we'd need immediately ie: computer, dvd's, one of our tv's and some clothes, and household goods. Which altogether was anywhere from 3500-4000 lbs. but I think that varies.

Re: question...
Wait, what is this "1/4th the allowance"? Why is there a a weight allowance if you aren't permitted to use it? It is my understanding that we (Air Force, Osan, Command Sponsored) are entitled to ship our full weight allowance of some 13,000 pounds. Can someone please clarify?
