Last minute advice
We are 9-days from our flight out to OSAN! I was wondering if there are any last minute words of advice from anyone. Like anything that made your transition easier etc. As you can imagine we are going through several different emotions and excitement being one of those.
We are still confused on the issue of the phone. I understand there is NO vonage allowed on OSAN anymore but is there anything else I should try and set up before leaving the states? Internet? Looks like We are on a direct flight to Korea...long hours with 2-kids. Any tips there? Any word of the other towers opening up? OH,,, could someone send me the LINK to the drivers test that we are supposed to study for? I would really appreciate it! THXS, KIM |

Re: Last minute advice
You already know what I've recommended to you over the past few months.
Coming over, I have no advice, it's pretty much just a flight and then getting through immigration once you get to the airport. Which was a breeze for me and my daughter. I know once I arrived, I immediately went and got put in the dBids system, I also carry a copy of DH's orders with me at all times. Not sure why, just makes me feel better, although now that we're pretty much settled in I don't feel to need to anymore.. LOL Next comes the ration card and SOFA stamp. Also the NEO packet is a big ball of fun too. [/sarcasm] Here's the link to the driving guide I "studied". Don't worry, it's SIMPLE to get your license over here, you don't even have a driving portion of the test. Just be sure to study the signs!!!! http://safety.korea.army.mil/sms/Pub...in%20Korea.pdf Good luck sweetie and let me know once you get here!

Re: Last minute advice
Kim,
The only thing I have to add about the driver's testing is that you have to view the video as well--either at spouses orientation or you can sign up and do it on a Friday(the only day they show it--it is only about 15 minutes). As far as the other tower goes--it still has not been handed over as of yet--you might be in this one (Hallasan) there are still a few empties. Enjoy all of your favorite restaurants--you will have a whole new set once you arrive. The very first thing you must do is get into BIDS and also get your ration card--those 2 are must haves-- and make your life much easier--drivers license--not so much until the vehicle gets here. Let me know when you arrive--more than happy to help. Lynniece ![]() |

Re: Last minute advice
Read up on jet-lag and tips on how to beat it. Melatonin can sometimes be helpful.

Re: Last minute advice
Ditto on the jet lag, that is the only thing I think I didnt study...lol...and it kicked my hiny!
Good luck and have a good flight. I packed lots of "goodies" for the kids for the flight. And snacks too. If you dont have a portable dvd player I would recommend getting one. See you on the "other" side! *giggles*

Re: Last minute advice
I didn't have a problem with jet lag coming to Korea. I just stayed up 24 hours before I came, as if I was already here and didn't have any problems.
One thing I would suggest however is bring some snacks or sandwhiches for your trip. I came over on Korean Air twice, and thought the food was terrible. I basically starved while on my way here. But if you like korean food. Then starving won't be an issue. We also use yahoo messenger/chat and skype to talk. |

!!!! Someone had mentioned about having the serial numbers written down on all our electronics that we bring through customs. Did you have to deal with that? Are you at OSAN? |
