Sorry-even the AF Weather Service here can't predict as far as the end of October with any accuracy! I will predict rain. But most parties are inside, and it shouldn't be very cold yet. Costume selections are usually limited, and getting your size would possibly be tough. I'd bring one.

Yeah I know we can't be sure on the weather but a idea was what I was looking for. Thanks!

Re: one more ?
tne,
It's admittedly been awhile since I've been there, but from -my experience-, at Osan, the selection of costumes on base was very limited, and quickly sold out. Even supplies like makeup were a bit more difficult to find, and required a lot of creativity. When I was there, a lot of folks ordered their costumes online, but with delivery times being as erratic as they are, I wouldn't count on them arriving on time. If your little one has his heart on something specific, or you need specific materials for your costume, I'd bring them with you. As for the weather, Korea is definitely seasonal.. if unpredictable. I'd say "think fall" , and remember, you can always add a jacket , if need be. I'm not sure about trick or treating on other bases, but at Osan, it was really nice, if a bit chaotic, trick or treating in the Towers, with all the kids hitting the same enclosed space. :) Dee :) |

Re: one more ?
The Osan BX had a pathetic array of costumes last year. I ended up buying some online. We went to Sorakason for trick or treating. Started at the top, worked our way to the bottom. Between the two kids they got 7 1/2 pounds of candy, no coats required!!

Re: one more ?
Another costume idea you may want to consider is having one made. There are numerous tailors who do fantastic work. Just bring them a picture of a costume you like and they will probably be able to make it custom.

Re: one more ?
Shoppink..
Good idea! I hadn't thought of that, although we actually had considered having one made for the little one when we were there! I'd actually forgotten the tailors! My one concern about that would be a) if the cost for it would be more than what you would pay to buy a costume in the states.. b) how long it would take to get a costume made? ..and c) (and this is,admittedly, just a personal thing) would you really want to put that sort of effort into a costume for a child who will probably only wear it once? :) Dee :) |

Re: one more ?
Does anyone know how much those Korean outfits that the korean kids wear are. Those special ones. I don't know the name. Since Ethan is half korean I really do want to get one for him....
I think the boys are going to be skeletons. I bought one of those shirts and then I can make the pants myself. Cheap cheap cheap!!! |

We were in the middle of PCS sing out during Halloween last year (we flew out at 8 am the very next day) , so Halloween costumes were the certainly not the main thing on our minds.. little one, however, definitely wanted to trick or treat, so we had to get creative... He went as a "Hairless Werewolf" "Weres without hairs are people too!" It was his idea, and actually turned out pretty cute :) As for the outfits you mentioned, I know the female one is called a hanbok, I can't remember if the male one is the same or no..but depending on what size you want, you can get one fairly cheaply. I remember they had them in the BX at Osan (at the embroidery shop) for 50 bucks and under in kids' sizes, and given that you can get stuff downtown a little cheaper usually..I'd say you're likely looking at no more than 35.00 maybe? Re: one more ?
There is a lady downtown that sells some for $10 or $20, but she has more expensive ones too. She is on the street right before the the railroad tracks, turn right, and go all the way down to the end. She's on the right (the lady on the left charges more). I bought my older girls each a really nice hanbok with the slip for $80 total. I assume that the boys' would be comparable. :)
