Talking [ncs] Yes!!!!

Hey guys!

I've been hoping I could make this post VERY soon, and finally I can! As some of you know, my husband left for Korea in mid April. We were told at Fort Jackson that I could go with him, non-command sponsored. I went with him, stayed for one week, and then was sent back to the states. Ever since April, we have been trying to get me over there to live with him. It has been a VERY long and difficult process. We've been told multiple times that it just absolutely was not going to happen.

In late August, we decided to just forget about it, and move on. About a week later, my husband called and told me that the Sergeant Major of the MP Battalion had decided she wanted to meet with him, and potentially give him permission to live off post and to AIP for one year.

He called me at 5am this morning, and told me that he'd met with her, and that --- she'd APPROVED it! The paperwork still has to officially be completed, but we've been waiting for her answer all along, as she was the only one who hadn't given him the go-ahead just yet. Finally, she has and we can get our paperwork moving.

He comes home for his mid-tour leave in 2 weeks, and if he can find an apartment before his leave, I will be going back with him. If he hasn't found an apartment yet, I will either stay in a hotel there for a week or so, while we find one, or I'll stay here for a week or so, until he does find one. Either way, I can FINALLY move to Korea and live with my husband!!!

I went by work today, and gave them my notice. They were so happy for me, and it made me feel even better. Then, I gave notice at my apartment. Now, I just finish out my notice at work, start packing, and wait for Jesse to come home! I can't WAIT!!!

So, hopefully in about a month, I'll be down at Taegu!

Re: [ncs] Yes!!!!

Thats very exciting!! =) Super happy for you

Flying my husband out wasn't quite as difficult as your experience, but I know how hard it is being NCS in Korea!

Good vibes to you ~

Great for you! He's already half way through though? Why did you guys decide to AIP and then have to stay longer?

He wanted me to have the opportunity to live in Korea, and he likes his unit, so he wanted to stay a little longer.

He was also told he would only be given permission to life off post, if, in return, he AIPed for another year.

I honestly wish I could explain why it happened, but it still doesn't even make sense to me. My husband was doing in-processing at 1RC, and when they realized I was there, they all acted like I had done something they had never heard of, by coming with my husband to Korea. They told my husband that he shouldn't have brought me, and gave him all kinds of crap about it. They told us that we needed to figure out how to get me back home because there wasn't anyway I could stay. Of course, we were both totally confused, but had no idea what steps to take or who to contact to help us, so we did what we were told, and I went home, after staying at the Dragon for a few nights.

The first person I would write would be your Congress man/woman. What they did was BS and it needs to be investigated. It cost you LOTS of money to do that, because someone did not kow the rules.

I would also do an ICE comment to the 1RC Commander.
