Re: First week( need advice)

We were told that the army would reimburse us for our tickets over here. You have to have proof of what you paid for the ticket, for sure. I'm sure there's also a form that would need to be filled out but I don't know. Your husband would have to ask about that one.

We didn't end up pursuing it because we flew over on companion passes so it was only $600. It didn't seem worth the hassle that you normally get when trying to be reimbursed by the army...lol.

Re: First week( need advice)

Its like anywhere else, its what YOU make of it! I am very pregnant (about 3 weeks left) and we still venture out just about every day. We live near Osan, but after the baby is born we plan to discover the Seoul area a bit more. My daughter has even started Tae Kwon Do near our apartment, she doesnt even seem to be affected by the fact that she doesnt know what they are saying, she looks forward to going everyday. I agree that we are fortunate to be joining our husbands on this little adventure, CS or NCS.

Re: First week( need advice)

Okay, this is a little off of the subject, but what are companion passes and how do you get them?? Our RNLTD is 30 June (we don't have our orders yet) so I haven't been able to get our A-3 visas or book a flight for myself and two kids. We'll be NCS at Osan. Anyway to save some money would be welcome.

Cheers!!

Re: First week( need advice)

Are you talking about permission to stay with your husband in his dorm?? I will have my hubby ask and get back to you tomorrow if you dont already have an answer. We are also NCS at Osan, and everything was very easy so far. We have only been here for a couple of weeks. We did come with our visas though, so I dont know there. I believe you have 30 days to get it once you get here and it is supposed to be easy to do so. I know once you have it, that it takes about 20 minutes or less to get your SOFA stamp and you do that right on base. As far as housing goes, go to the housing office and schedule yourself an off base housing tour, you should have no problem getting on the schedule for the next day and if you find an apartment that you like on the tour, you can usually move in that day because they have already been inspected. The housing office is also where they will get you set up for OHA and I believe your utilities as well. Anyways, feel free to private message me and I will help all I can since we just went through the same things at the same base. Do you have any children?? Also, I dont know if you have read through the whole ncs thread but the best prices for plane tickets usually come from a website called best travel store. Good luck, and I hope your transition goes as smooth as ours has.
