Will Google pay a price for their support of China?
It looks like Google has bowed to pressure and has allowed the Chinese governement to censor internet traffic going into China. Read the full story here.
There are already people out protesting and starting to make graphics about Google. ![]() I think this graphic speaks for itself: ![]() If you were to try to get info on Tiananmen Square it would be censored! Here are a few more: ![]() ![]() I honestly believe this was a bad decision by Google to allow their search engine in China to be censored. Any other thoughts? Mike

I always preferred Google. I figure an inroad is an inroad. Allowing some censoring of the product in China by China doesn't hurt me. Maybe it is best for their children? American movies are censored on American TV. Maybe a country should have the right to censor certain things? Are some countries more sovereign than others? The bottom line is money for Google. I hope they make a lot, and use it to improve the www.

It's not just money for Google - they are on a quest to spread information! Trust me, Google is making wads of cash but the company still retains it's idealistic roots. The media may not portray it that way, but take my word for it.
I found a great argument for Google's China decision in a WA Post column Quote:

Honestly, all joking a side, I think Google is doing it right. Get in China, even if restricted, and slowly allow more open access over the years. It is the internet that will open China up to Democracy not U.S. pressure.
I can understand why people in Tibet want to be heard and it is shameful that people spend so much time talking about the poor Palestinians without a homeland and spend absolutely no time on the people of Tibet who were invaded and occupied by the Chinese by force. Mike
