The "War on Terror"
Here is an example of what fine American soldiers are doing to protect their country from the "terrorists."
GIs eyed in alleged rape, murders in Iraq By RYAN LENZ, Associated Press Writer A group of American soldiers in an insurgent-riddled town allegedly noticed a young Iraqi woman when on patrol and later returned to rape her, according to U.S. officials Friday. In an apparent cover-up attempt, she and three members of her family then were killed and her body was set on fire. Five U.S. troops are being investigated, a U.S. military official told The Associated Press. It is the fifth pending case involving alleged slayings of Iraqi civilians by U.S. troops. The suspects in the killing, which took place in March, were from the same platoon as two soldiers kidnapped and killed south of Baghdad this month, said the official, who is close to the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case. One soldier was arrested after admitting his role in the alleged attack on the family, the U.S. official said. The official said the rape and killings appear to have been a "crime of opportunity," noting that the soldiers had not been attacked by insurgents but had noticed the woman on previous patrols. One of the family members they allegedly killed was a child, said a senior Army official who also requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. Some of the suspects allegedly burned the woman's body to cover up the attack, the U.S. official said. In Baghdad, the U.S. military issued a sparse statement, saying only that Maj. Gen. James D. Thurman, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, ordered a criminal investigation into the alleged slaying of a family of four in Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad. However, the U.S. official said the soldiers were assigned to the 502nd Infantry Regiment. The official told the AP that the suspects were from the same platoon as two slain soldiers whose mutilated bodies were found June 19, three days after they were abducted by insurgents near Youssifiyah southwest of Baghdad. The military has said one and possibly both of the slain soldiers were tortured and beheaded. The official said the mutilation of the slain soldiers stirred feelings of guilt and led at least one member of the platoon to reveal the rape-slaying on June 22. According to the senior Army official, the alleged incident was first revealed by a soldier during a routine counseling-type session. The official said that soldier did not witness the incident but heard about it. A second soldier, who also was not involved, said he overhead soldiers conspiring to commit the crimes and then later saw bloodstains on their clothes, the official said. Before the soldier disclosed the alleged assault, senior officers had been aware of the family's death but believed it was a result of sectarian violence, the official said. One of the five suspects has already been discharged for unspecified charges unrelated to the killings and is believed to be in the United States, two U.S. officials said on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. The others have had their weapons taken away and are confined to a U.S. base near Mahmoudiya. The allegations of rape could generate a particularly strong backlash in Iraq, a conservative, strongly religious society in which many women will not even shake hands with men who are not close relatives. The case is among the most serious against U.S. soldiers allegedly involved in the deaths of Iraqi civilians. At least 14 U.S. troops have been convicted. Last week, seven Marines and one Navy medic were charged with premeditated murder in the shooting death of an Iraqi man near Fallujah west of Baghdad. U.S. officials are also investigating allegations that U.S. Marines killed two dozen unarmed Iraqi civilians Nov. 19 in the western town of Haditha in a revenge attack after a fellow Marine died in a roadside bombing. Other cases involve the deaths of three male detainees in Salahuddin province in May, the shooting death of unarmed Iraqi man near Ramadi in February, and the death of an Iraqi soldier after an interrogation in 2003 at a detention camp in Qaim. The allegations have aroused public anger against the U.S. military presence at a time when the new Iraqi government and U.S. authorities are trying to reach out to disaffected Sunni Arabs to quell the insurgency and calm sectarian tensions. On Saturday, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki leaves for a whirlwind trip to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to seek support for his national reconciliation initiative, which includes an amnesty for the mostly Sunni insurgents. Al-Maliki is also expected to brief the Sunni leadership of those three countries on his efforts to deal with the divisions between Shiites and Sunnis. Iraq's neighbors in the Persian Gulf fear sectarian tensions will spill over into their countries, which are dominated by Sunnis but have large Shiite minorities. On Friday, radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr rejected al-Maliki's initiative because it does not include a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S.-led foreign troops. "We demand the occupation forces to leave the country, or at least a timetable should be set for their withdrawal," al-Sadr said during a sermon. Despite al-Maliki's efforts, there has been no letup in Iraq's violence. The U.S. military reported four more American service members have died, including a Marine killed Friday in fighting west of Baghdad. Three Army soldiers died in combat the day before, the military said. ___ AP correspondent Ryan Lenz is embedded with the 101st Airborne Division in Beiji, Iraq. He was previously embedded with the 502nd Infantry Regiment in Mahmoudiya. AP correspondent Lolita C. Baldor in Washington contributed to this report. |

I'll hand it to you my man (?), you've searched the WWW high and low in an attempt to degrade the US and GW. Eventhough you've solicit responses that are counter to what you want to here and so forth, you'll stand your ground regardless. This is your way of reaching out and gaining attention from ex-pats and miltary types. Pretty sad. If you're so determined to voice your opinion, contact GW himself or Rumsfeld and so forth and see what their response is. I'm still waiting on your reply regarding Iraq's human rights violations since 1991. The one's you forgot to mention in your last delusion mantra in another post. I've even gave you 3 references to look up. No response. So be it.
So if you need to release your anger and inner agression about this war or GW's behavior or God only knows what. Go ahead. There's only two things in life your parents should of made perfectly clear to you; thins that you can manage and things you can't. Unless God or whatever deity you worship owes you a favor and you can actually make a difference, your attempts here are considered as unmanagable by the rest of us. You might get the response you're looking for from a few, by when it's all said and done. What have you accomplished? Nothing! You've wasted time barking up a tree to make yourself feel good. That onanistic behavior and doesn't take much social skills to to hunt and peck out what you're doing. Once you're able to recognize managables and unmanagables, future medical problems due to manifestation of stress related symptoms will be lower than the national average. Show us on this Forum how to live astress free life by not actually controlling your stress level and feelings of entitlement and lack of control. It's obvious that you you have some ability to research stuff you believe. Go to school, work toward a PhD or whatever and do your thing. Statistically prove some on this Forum wrong or just find something that will make you happy and a productive citizen. I tell you what, why don't you try going to a Theological school and complete a degree in peaceand justice studies. Spirituality does relieve stress and is an important part of one's support system. Oh by the way, I usually charges $45 per session for that advice, ths is on the house.

I am all into freedom of speech, but I think maybe you should exercise your freedoms (which many people here in one way or another protect) elsewhere. I don't (as I'm sure no one else here does) appreciate you causing problems and bad mouthing our sevice people. Yes these few people did something aweful, but they don't represent us. There are a lot of good people over there fighting incuding my husband, and there are a lot of good people here defending the home front. Our service members have parents, husbands, wives and children and for you to demean people that you don't know is reprehensible. A few military members do something wrong and it's all you ever hear about. You never hear about anything good even though good is done everyday and far out weigh the bad. Of course good doesn't make a good news story now does it?

The US military is being held to a standard that no field army in history has ever been held to. With 135,000 soldiers sitting over in Iraq it is a statistical certainy that criminal incidents are going to happen. The army is a reflection of America and America isn't known for being free of all crime. The difference is how you handle the criminal incidents and there are many US military personnel serving jail sentences for breaking the law.
It is sad that this commenter is trying to equate all the soldiers in Iraq with the terrorists because of this alledged incident. A bomber kills 66 people minding their own business in a market place in Baghdad by the terrorists today and this commenter equates these daily bombings with the US military for opening an investigation and already assumes these soldiers are guilty. That is why I can't stand the American left because they cannot present any better ideas, they just spew venom and hate, especially against the military. |

With all due respect chucksnee, you're playing into his game. It's enjoyable for him to remain on this Forum to aggitate. It's been asked if he's ever been in the military and I don't believe he's replied. This is probably some college student with few friends and can't expand his field of friends. No one listens to him in the real world so cyberspace makes him feel like he has some stroke to control others emotional responses.
He feels he's smarter than us because he can cut-n-paste articles instead of actually typing out his own thoughts and providing a link. Superior to us I should say, kind of a delusional thinking on his part and rather sad. The more you and others reply with facts, excitable responses and so forth, the more enjoyment he gets. That onanistic behavior thing. Think of it as a relationship thing. He probably can't establish a real relationship out of cyberspace and this Forum feeds into his thrill seek desires and gets the neuron snapping. In real life he's most likely very quiet and keeps to himself because he can't assert himself without fumbling the words and is embarasses him. If he even tells what few freinds he has about what his doing, they don't have a clue about what he's talking about. That my suggestion for his posting.

I know, I've delt with people like that before. They are inmature little people who think they are cyber thugs.
He will never be back to this board, because he now feels he has inflated his chest and told us who are military that he does not like us. That is all he could do on this board and now he has moved on. People deal with stuff like this in many ways, depending if you have been Military or not. I can't stand it, and I did not even come close to what I wanted to say to the leech. Thanks for your opinion.........

Well his posted on 1/14, 2/10, 6/17 x4, 6/18, 6/28x2, & 7/1x2. Winner of Jan 2006 writing contest. I knew he had some talent, too bad his post are cut-n-paste and not his owns words but that my gripe for the moment.
I've skimmed the entry and learned the following: He's claims to have lived in the ROK for a few years, rides the bus-mostly but has a car, states having wife & son (???), lives in an appartment, English teacher @ a university, works out in a fitness club with at least 2 floors near said university, & has either lost 50k Won or had it stolen. Oh and lives a 30 minute bus ride from Chongju plus walkking distance from the bus station and got drunk during this adventure. Hmm, let's see here: too tried from drinking, lost W50k, one more from the DSM-IV criteria and I'd have a patient! If he does read this, it's $200 for the inital assessment and $45 per session afterwards.
