Re: Investing

Amended--the amount of silver the NWTMint will sell you on credit varies. I was able to buy 39 ounces recently but it may be different when you buy. I still highly recommend it as a way to pad your portfolio with something of real value. A small purchase every month adds up. Real bullion in your possession is recommended for a core position in silver or gold. Playing the rise and fall in metals prices can be done on the gold or silver ETF. CHEERS!

Re: Investing

Since the arcade link is down, I've found some more productive ways to waste time. I've been playing around with the Motley Fool's Caps site. It lets you make stock predictions, and then compares your picks with all the other members. (currently about 18,000). The site is also useful in that it takes the collective conscious of investors, and rates stocks based on the opinions of the group. They also post the picks of the top Wall Street investors, and you can see how their predictions measure up to Joe Six-Pack in Topeka. In the two days since I registered, I'm already in the 70th percentile. Same name on that site as this one.
Check it out if you're bored. If all else, its another useful research tool. http://caps.fool.com/

Re: Investing

Investing in oil will give some great returns over the coming years. Some oil facts to consider: Western oil companies like, Exon Mobile, Shell BP, Chevron,...etc, do not control the price of oil. These companies only control approximately 15 percent of the world's oil. Approximately 85 percent of the world's oil is under the control of nationalized oil companies. national oil, Mexico, Russia, Venzuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran ,...etc... have agend's much different than western oil companies. World oil demand is growing year over year while supply, (in ground oil reserves), Have been shrinking. The things you hear on the news like the weekly oil inventories are meaningless when it comes to oil resource availability.
The simplest way to invest in oil is by taking a position in the ETF: USO. It is currently at a low of around 51 dollars per share. There are many other plays like investing in oil service companies etc,... but if you want to make a play in oil, the USO, (U.S. Oil Fund), and exchange traded fund, is by far the easiest. The fundamentals all support another major price increase in oil. Geo-political tensions have the ability to cause major spikes. Cheers.

Re: Investing

Holy cow batman!, I've been out on the road and away from my desktop(laptop took a dump) and look what the market did. Good thing I can trade over the land line when I need to. It is definitely a traders market where you can make it big or lose it all right now. I'm trying to trade the dips and peaks on USO right now. I side with those who think we will see another leg down before the change falls out of our pockets. Mostly because the trend in long interest rates is up and there is mostlikely more pain from the yen to be felt. the next two weeks will tell. two good plays for speculative mining stocks are still esperanza if you can buy in under 2.80 and tyhee under .40 cents. they are both highly speculative. i own tyhee but i jumped out of esperanza. I think we will see oil rise again this summer possibly beginning after march. one thing is certain, if there is another big dip in oil, i will be a longer term buyer holding it through at least this summer. the best weather forecaster around has predicted an active hurricane season with the possibility of two aiming toward the gulf. Cheers!

Re: Investing

Sometimes watching cramer really does pay off, (i hope). Dean Foods symbol (DF) is poping like crazy in after hours trading. I know cramer and others say don't get caught up in the after hours crazy trades but sometimes it is the only way to get in before the next morning bell rings. Anyway, Dean Foods put out a public statement a few weeks back that it plans to give it's shareholders of record a 15 dollar dividend on April 2nd for those who were sharholders as of march 27th. There is a stipulation that the pay out might not be as much as 15 dollars so it is still a gamble but, it may be too good to pass up. I jumped in, hope it pays off. Thought I'd pass this along for those who may not watch mad money. DF is trading around 48.50 in after hours tonight. Peace and good luck. Turk.

Re: Investing

I've been watching a new company out of Canada. Thyee is the name, cannot for the life of me remember the ticker name.

Right now I think they are at .40 a share. Gonna watch them for a while.

Re: Investing

I think you're talking about Tyhee Development Co. Symbol (TYHJF). Its a very junior gold mining company. I own shares of it. Its entirely speculative, as all mining juniors are but, it has some very reputable investment companies involved. Right now its a good buy in when ever it goes under 40 cents. It is highly risky as all spec stock plays are.

Re: Investing

Been awhile, but after those posts from way back about precious metal stocks, I looked into a few companies. Went against Cramer's Yamana and opted for another small cap. IAMGOLD (symbol IAG) took a beating during the mini-crash, but its bottomed out and looks to be on the rise. I re-upped my position at $7.60 and see this one hitting 9 bucks by mid-May. Run the numbers. I'd appreciate what you guys think.

In other, non-financial news...I arrived in Korea this week! After 6 months of posting in the USFK forums, I'm finally bona fide! I'm looking forward to the next two years here. I've got my wife and 7 mos. old daughter with me here on Command Sponsorship, so I guess they're bona fide too.

Now I'm off to find out about this thing called Kimchi...

Re: Investing

Kimchee gooood! Here are two stocks I've been watching and researching for a couple days. They might be good for a day trade, in and out. the first has already gotten a lot of attention, thanks to bartiromo on cnbc. It is: Dendreon (DNDN). It is a biopharm. Trading was halted on thursday, march 29th due to an FDA panel vote in prgress for it's new prostate cancer drug. The panel voted in favor (that still doesn't mean it will be approved). The last close price was $5.22. It has closed out to after hours trading also. So far, it has been closed out to pre-open trading for tomorrow, friday march 30th. It looks like, it won't start trading until the open bell rings on friday, 9:30am eastern time. I will be up early to check the pre-open trade, which begins executing at 8am et and goes to 9:15am et, just to make sure it is not caught up in the pre-open trades as that tends to make the price move substantially at the bell ring. I don't recommend chasing stock prices up unless it is in a reliable bull run. At any rate, DNDN might be good for at least a two dollar pop. 2nd stock in the next post....
