Re: [VIDEO] F-22 Rapture, baddest jet in the world!

That is a bad plane, but why pay that much money for a plane?

We already have the F15 which is one of the baddest planes going, even though it was built in the, well not really sure?? But it still reins supreme in the air.

Then there is the F18 same thing just a little badder.

Then the F16....quick fast and almost untouchable...

Re: [VIDEO] F-22 Rapture, baddest jet in the world!

Chuck,

We have been lucky to fight countries that do not have the newest Russian fighters. The Su-27/35 Flanker is just as bad-ass as the F-15 and any some ways better. The Chinese and other countries are moving into the future and we would be foolish to get left behind.

Why pay so much?
  • This is the first “stealthy” fighter
  • The F-22 can break the speed of sound without going into after burner. This extends the range and make sit more fuel efficient

The F-22 and Joint Strike fighter is needed to keep the Air Force ahead of the crowd. We have reduced the number on order, so it is really not as expensive as it fills the role of several F-15s. The same as the B-2. One B-2 can do the job of over a dozen F-117s.

the enemy's of the future are going to be scare of the JSF, not the F-22, as the JSF is the ground attacker as you can no win a war with air suppority.

and i don't care what anyone says the A10 is the biggest badest thing with Jet engines! anything that can eat part of its own win and keep going is tough in my books

I understand about wanting not be left behind, and it is good to go ahead in the future. The F22 is an amazing ACFT.

No doubt the Su-27/35 Flanker is a great ACFT but it is also an older ACFT. Just like the F15/F18/F16.

China and Russia have ordered several and they are currently in use.

We will never be left behind in the technology race and we will always be front leader.

When will we go to far? Will we?

Look at the Commanche helicopter. Suposed to be the baddest stealth helicopter going, but it was cancalled becasue the Apache done the same thing and was already made.

Re: [VIDEO] F-22 Rapture, baddest jet in the world!

The high-cost of the F-22 is partly due to the research and development cost. The more plane we buy, the cheaper each one is. It wasn't a real success in the acquisition world due to the time and money we spent on it. But we did get a good product. It has all the latest technology. There is no fighter plane in the world that can match it.
The A10 might be the biggest baddest, but without support of the fighter aircrafts and stealth bombers, it will be a sitting duck. Each aircraft has a different role to play. The F-22 are supposedly built to replace the F-15, which is an aging fleet. It is no match for the newest russian fighters in term of capability. The JSF is meant to replace the F-16 in the Air Force.
