Hmm...maybe the parents were using the kid as a transporter to hand over to one of the 'customers' among the school faculty.

Kid transporters are known as Pee Wees. Go to an inter city and you might see them at a McDonalds buying hamburgers and they pull out a wad of $100 bills.
