My view has always been, as the Berlin wall came down, that the cold war is not over, it is just changing colors. During the 'cold war' the argument that was often touted by those who taught geo-politics, as to why the USSR was doomed to failure was the old 'guns and butter' argument. Then, the free markets of the western powers gave us capabilities that the Russians only dreamed about. It seems the tables are slowly turning with our help and/or neglect.
