What is the scariest movie of all time?

This is a tough question, but we were talking about this in my work area last week. In its time, I would go with Amityville Horror, The Shining, Polterguist, and the Exorcist. The original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was pretty scary also!

The music and the loud sudden bursts of noise are really what get me. Omen was pretty scary, but one of the scariest I remember growing up was something called 'The Evil' but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Well i would have to say "the sound of music" with whats her name in it! Man that was scary!!

Really i would say the Amityville Horror. Their are to many things that are real that go with that movie, the house and so on...

I'd have to go with Exorcist (1973). Being a child when I watched it gave me nightmares. Oh, also that Stephen King movie Carrie (1976)...the ending when the mother goes all psycho and gets pinned by butcher knives gave me chills! On top of that...the nightmare where the girl was laying flowers down and suddenly Carrie's hand popped out the grave...

i would agree with the omen a movie that has dated very well but is to receive the dreaded remake treatment this summer with the terminally bland liev schrieber replacing gregory peck...but for the scariest moment ever in a movie try wait until dark...the one set audrey hepburn movie based on the stage play...it features the best jump out of your seat moment in cinema and even stephen king agreed naming it his favourite cinema scare a while back

One of the most eerie games I've ever played on my PS2 is going to be a movie next month: Silent Hill. Lookin' forward to it!

Oh, and welcome to the forum, 007!
