BP Shuts Down Major Alaska Pipeline

It looks like one of the largest pipelines in the U.S. has been shut down due to some leaks. The price of oil spiked up to $77 a barrel. Personally, I am cheering for $100 a barrel. This is the only way Americans and the world will learn to get off of oil. I am ready to by a car that runs on 100% ethanol. Alternatives to oil will only come out when oil prices become unreasonable.

Are you going to pay my car note? I drive an older vehicle so I won't have a car note. I've looked into almost every alternative out there, except electric, but the conversion costs are way to high and the lifetime cost reduction is insignificant. Trust me...I'd love nothing better than to drive an all alternative fuel car, but the fact is that the little guys down here can't afford it. And now, we can't afford regular gas. Why? Because of an 8% reduction in North American production????? WTFO? The rest of the world wouldn't have even felt this reduction! Oh well...guess I'll stay a little guy and help the big guys get rich.

Re: BP Shuts Down Major Alaska Pipeline

I am not talking about the current model of cars. I am talking about a new car and support system.

One of my biggest disappointments with President Bush is his lack of energy towards making Ethanol the #1 resource in America. The U.S. could become the Saudi Arabia of the world when it comes to Ethanol. We grow more corn than anyone else. We should cancel our payments to the UN and a few other choice aid programs and fund ethanol research and development.

After the infrastructure is built out their should be major tax credits and cuts for people owning an ethanol vehicle. I would make the entire car a tax deduction (deduction over 3 years) and give people making under $25,000 a tax credit of $3,000. That $3,000 should cover the down payment so people can afford the future car payments.

Re: BP Shuts Down Major Alaska Pipeline

Sounds good to me :-) I'm actually very surprised that ethanol hasn't become more popular. Ol' Willie Nelson and Morgan Freeman are running a huge ethanol plant down here somewhere and they pushed for a while, but didn't open up nearly enough stations. I just can't believe that we haven't done more research into methane with all the pigs and cows we have in this country...take that however you like too :-)
