Today is Independence Day of Korea.
![]() ![]() Today is Independence Day of Korea. Also today, Japan was capitulated to U.S. by Nuclear bomb. Japan was damaged to many cuntries such as Korea, China, Philippin, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, etc.... through their the Pacific War in 1940s. Expressly, many Korean man was mobilized their war by compulsion and also, many Korean woman was attacked by Japanese soldiers. the present day, Japan never reflect on themselves conduct. Because they are American's biggest a companion. Do you know that ? How about your think ? They say; "Ours war reformed East Asia !" But, They are killed thousands of people during The Pacific War. Is it a reform ? Their prime minister, today is prayed to their national heroes. I don't understand his crazy action. ![]() Last edited by shsong21 : 08-15-2006 at 04:48 PM. |

Re: Today is Independence Day of Korea.
It seems hatred does live on for the acts of Japan, at least, for the acts of the Japan of another era. No one, no other country can view the Japanese in the same way as the Korean, the Chinese, the Philippino or any other nationality whom the Japanese of the first half of the twentieth century inflicted so much horror upon. We can only hope that this hatred will ease with every new generation as people realize the Japan of today is a different country. We, the USA, inflicted heavy, heavy damage and death upon the Japanese during WWII through our fire bombing of it's major cities and then with the dropping of two atomic bombs. I'm not arguing the merits of either set of actions. They were necessary for the times and done in a context we can't understand today. We occupied them, a truly and totally defeated and demoralized country at the time and we did what Americans do, we helped them rebuild, just as we helped the ROK rebuild throughout the decades after the cease fire. Both countries are faced with the choice of continuing into the future which is impossible if you have a foot stuck in the past. Unfortunately, for you our Korean friends, you still have a big piece of the past to contend with in the north.
