Anyone here using FTA satellite?

I am looking into this stuff and I really have no idea what the hell I am looking at... just curious to see if anyone here uses this stuff and what it would take (both money wise and knowledge wise) to get a basic system going. My goal is just to increase the available number of english language channels available to me.

Don't spend any money until you PM or talk to me again. (I used to be a Dish Network dealer.)

Re: Anyone here using FTA satellite?

I found a forum on the subject, and according to what I have read there are several reasons that I will probably not be going this route. The first one is the size of dish required and the second is overall cost.

I will PM you my new cell number Joe, we can talk about this soon.

Re: Anyone here using FTA satellite?

SS- standing by. I have several sources. I have been gathering info, but it is not a commom subject in Korea. The cable people and the BX have their own stuff scrambled, and they won't co-operate with FTA folks, it seems. They throw away or destroy old dishes and don't want anyone to know about it.
A person who lives in Seoul sent me some info he had, pertinent to azimuth angles. I have a site where that is all printed out for you. There may not be much in English that is not scrambled. We'll see. Lots of Asian shows.

Re: Anyone here using FTA satellite?

Well my overall goal is to get more english channels... I am also looking at putting a Slingbox at my house in Colorado, which would be WAY cheaper than any of the options I have currently found. I am also building a computer to be a PVR so that I can time shift shows on the setup.
