Re: How to find out about civilian contract jobs
The place to begin is at the companies web sights. Visit them and find jobs you may want and submit your updated resume. Call the company to show your real interest. When ever a job fair, head hunting tour or any other company recruiting teams visit your area, go to them with resume and a smile. If you are in a position to network yourself (brown nose) with the company or with people who can give you a good recommendation, do it. Personal recommendations are worth a thousand truthful resumes. If they offer you a job in a location where you didn't want to go, (and they probably will), and you decline it, decline it in a way that leaves you open for more offers, but, they will only take so many rejections. I knew a guy who once visited the HR office of a defense contractor every week for a year before they finally gave him a shot. The most important thing is this: make sure you are a good fit for the job you put in for. Many times you will find yourself overseas with little or severly lagging support so you have to be able to improvise and fix problems without asking the company. That is a big thing in many jobs, not all but many. If you find yourself in a job you can't handle and blow it, it can damage your reputation for a long time after. Good Luck.

A lot of them here in Korea are by word of mouth.
