Night of Seoul-2

You can see Namsan tower far away. Seoul, here is not my hometown.
Seoul seems to very beautiful city but here is never a good city.

Here is my hometown. I was born of here in 1972. Here is no a supermarket, no internet, no cable TV.

Here is a shot I took from Namsam on Chuseok, I was having trouble trying to filter out the background light off of the glass form the tower, but this did not turn out all that bad:

Re: Night of Seoul-2

Seoul is the worst city in the world????? What is wrong with Seoul I am getting my hopes up to go see it eventually so what is so wrong with it or is it just a bad city? I wanna see Seoul badly so i can compare it to tokyo when i move there next year. I have heard things but i am more of the guy that wants to go explore than take ya word on things but I would like to avoid dangers if at all possible.. I am a thrill seeker not death lol

Cool Re: Night of Seoul-2

Mr. Shsong! Seoul has supermarkets, internet and Cable TV. How could it not be a great city!

You must explain why a Korean country boy would say that! You went to school here and work here because the best schools and jobs may be here, is that right? We know you miss your country home down south. Many of us miss our hometown.
You served in the Korean Navy, and have an Engineering Degree. You must know some good places in Seoul! Like any large city, Seoul has some good and some bad. I live in Seoul, and I like walking through Itaewon and Insa Dong. Both places sell goodies for Foreigners to buy, and there is always someone who speaks English or Japanese. Since I like bargains, I venture out to Nam Dae Mun (South Gate) and Dong Dae Mun (East Gate). There you can find most anything you want. Always argue that you want a discount! Especially inside the Flea Market at the Dongdaemun Stadium. Start early, it takes all day.

So, "venture out", what does that mean ?
I can translate 100% except its sentences.

Cool Re: Night of Seoul-2

We do have a variety of ways to say things. It is very difficult, but after many years of usage, it is not so hard.
Why? I cannot explain well in Korean.
One reason is "ambiguity" ( 두 가 지 뜻 , 여 러 가 지뜼 ,모 호 하 지, 모 호 한 ,
표 현 ) which is reduced by using many different words.
Korean, unlike Chinese or English, cannot express things in a great variety of ways. So it is a great, simple language, and after studying for the same length of time, it is not so difficult to write.

As Chinese has thousands of individual characters, so English has thousands of words to express more exact meanings.

Do not expect to learn every word. There are too many. You can learn a small number of words necessary to express your meaning. We do not expect you to know all the variations of English. You know enough already to say 80% of what you mean! Keep trying, and learn the proper usage of
the, a, an, and other things slowly, as you progress. You improve every day.
