If we would be unification, your military strength need not us any longer. I seem to you need study of my country. haha.... Most of you, American people does'nt know well about my country. You're just thinking that Korea is not so important us. But I don't think so. If we would be unification someday, your military influence will be reduced in East Aisa surging up. you know it ? And then our government will buddy up with China better than America. your young brother, Japan will be left alone in East Asia. Can you understand what i say ? haha..... Most of GIs, they are just enjoy, drink with night girls here but now, you have to prepare for your future. you know ? Last edited by shsong21 : 02-24-2007 at 12:51 PM. |

Re: Rok Navy
I was merely looking for clarification of what you were saying. Sorry, sometimes it is difficult to interpret what you are trying to say in english. Now, on to your other comments. I am not a GI, I am a contractor. I don't spend all my time drinking with juicy girls, and neither do all the GIs. I have studied a great deal about Korean history, and hold two degrees in geography and asian studies.I have spent most of my free time here out meeting Korean people and experiencing Korean culture. What I have gathered from speaking to many Koreans is that not every want re-unification. Many people feel that it would only weaken Korea, its economy and influence in the world. Take the example of Germany. Germany is still today dealing with many problems that existed before re-unification of East and West Germany. You suggestion that Korea will become buddies with China is not well thought out either. With a weak post unification Korean economy, China will have no interest in aligning itself with Korea. China is on a steady path to becoming a capalist nation. As their economic status grows, they are slowing moving away from their communist ideals. China will have no interest in Korea. You also suggest that the U.S. would leave asia and Japan behind if Korea was re-united. You statments are unfounded. Japan is now beginning a process to rework its constituion and grow its military presence. It seems to me that while you might know something about Korean history, your knowledge of world history, world economics, and world politics is lacking. I do look forward to the day that no U.S. troops will be in Korea, or any other nation as well. I say let these countries stand up and fight on their own, and then they will gain an appreciation for what the U.S. has done for them.

South Korea's GDP is about 787,567 (in millions of dollars) placing it in 11th place world wide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...y_GDP_(nominal) North Korea's GDP is about 40,000 (in millions of dollars). https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...s/kn.html#Econ What will it cost your country to bring your brothers up to speed? The South's population of about 49 million people works out to about $24,200 when you split up the GDP among the population. The North's population of about 23 million people works out to about $1,800 when you split up the GDP among the population. A united Korea with a population of 72 million people works out to about $11,494 when you split up the united GDP among the united population. What is that? A 53% loss for you and 639% increase for the North. Are you ready for that level of sacrifice? Ready to loose your job and take a position in a LG factory putting the knobs on microwave ovens because LG had to fire and deport all the foreign workers who do that now? As for me, if this happens and American forces leave Korea, then tax money my country spends on this goes to some other use and I go start teaching in Japan or China. I think reunification is a great idea, I really feel for the North Koreans who have to live with nothing at the whim of a man. I just think the Koreas should choose their partner wisely. What country in the world would spend their own money to help out former enemies? China or America? Which country would let another country starve and do nothing about it? Who picks up the check all over the world? Uncle Sugar, or Chairman of the Party? What level of sacrifice is comfortable for YOU in meeting this goal? How are YOU preparing for the future? My thinking is the same with our countries leader group. I had worked at Centeral government building for long time. Our country's leader group want to get out of a American power. They are know well about your country's policy. I know a few people of them(Korea leader group). They will be lead Korean Peninsula after the unification. They want a strong Korea without interfere of America. Finally, your position will be only JAPAN, your young brother. JAPAN is marionette of America. BTW, Do you knwo about Korea leader group ? FBI, CIA, NSA also doesn't know about this group. haha.... They are supporting N.Korea's Nuclear weapon from behind. It's secret. haha.... Last edited by shsong21 : 02-24-2007 at 06:01 PM. |
