Keys to the Kingdom Bar Guide
Anyone remember the 'book' that was written and posted on the internet titled " Keys To The Kingdom"? Well apparently the author actually published it and it is listed on Amazon under a new title at this link:
http://www.amazon.com/Korean-Bar-Sec.../dp/0971282110 According to the sight, there are none available, perhaps due to no demand, couldn't tell you. The original was definitely a good read about how the modern bar scene in SongTan works, with the juicies, bar fines, high rollers. 'boyfriends' etc,... I once had the original on disk but lost it. Anyone who wants a good insight into what really goes on, this is a great book, if you can get a copy. peace.

Re: Keys to the Kingdom Bar Guide
Not sure if this is the same guy, but I heard that the owner of "The Hole in the Wall" across the railroad tracks of Teague AB wrote the original book. I used to have a copy of it and it is worth the reading. It really gives you some insight on how things work in Songtan. Once you read it, you will be able to pick up on all the signs that are given in the book. It's really comical that once you do read it, you will start giving the customers you see in the bars the names like "High Roller, Shmuck" or even find the "invisible guy."

Re: Keys to the Kingdom Bar Guide
After spending what was probably too many years in my favorite far eastern land of Korea and having been a beer drinking juicy girl chaser, bar owner and other things too lengthy to metion, when I returned to the old homeland in 1999, one day I was just web surfing and I just accidentally stumbled upon a written work called keys to the kingdom. As I read it I surely could identify and laugh along with each descriptive and dead on definition of what goes on in SongTan. I heard it said that the author actually obtained a copy of the bar town hand book for madaams and girls who want to learn the ropes. The handbook is basically a written collection of knowledge passed down from older Korean bar women to the younger ones and deals with the psychology of the business as it relates to picking every last penny from the customers pocket. And boy, have they gotten good at it. The Korean bar town of today is nothing like it was before the economic boom. It is very true that in the 'old days' , the American GI was treated like a king and the bars had wall to wall korean girls. No more, for the most part anyway. Woe to the young GI who has only heard war stories from the older crowd who remember how things were when they used to call Kunsan air base the best kept secret as far as assignments. These poor fellows need to be armed with the knowledge that can be found in this book.

Re: Keys to the Kingdom Bar Guide
Last time I looked when I started this thread, it was listed on amazon but there were no books available. perhaps you could ask your friend why and get him to call the publisher or amazon and somehow make fresh copies of the book available to order. Good for him to sell it and good for those who read this forum and would pass on the information about the existence of the book. Maybe he can make some mad money from people in Songtan who would read it. Peace.
