Chess Club? Table Tennis
Is there a Chess Club at Yongsan? What about Table Tennis?

I've seen pool (billiards) tables at the Moyer rec center, (Bus Station). Bowling is big:alleys are behind the Moyer Center. We have 3 Gymnasiums with lots of bodybuilding help and equipment. A rock climbing wall is on the corner of Huam St. and Hangang Ro., past the USO going North toward Seoul Station. Table tennis is big in Korea-maybe not on Post. Chess? Somebody speak up...
How about biking along the river bike paths! My friend lives right across from gate 1, maybe in your building. He recently lost his biking partner to a PCS move... he brews his own refreshments at home! |

Re: Chess Club? Table Tennis
Sweet! Thanks for the info - I'll look into what you mentioned.
1. Approx how far is the climbing wall from the USO? 2. I'll probably wander out and try to find some local table tennis in the next few weeks. I bet it's hardcore if I play with Koreans. 3. I would be interested in biking. I gave mine to my brother before moving here (doww). I'm still deciding if I should get a mountain bike, road bike, or hoopty. I've seen a few local bike clubs riding around. Any recommendations based on the local roads/trails? I'll be happy to meet your friend when I get some wheels. There have got to be chess groups around... Another thing I got recently hooked on was bridge - yep, like your grandma plays. I learned how to play on a recent family vacation. Not that I'm any good, but the game can be truly addicting.

Two stoplights (blocks) from the USO. Can't miss it. I played bridge when I was 16, but that was long, long ago.

Any idea how much the climbing wall costs with or without equipment?

I have lived in Korea for 6 years and never saw anyone use it.

I'd guess it belongs to Huamdong. (Like a borough or ward?) The building on the corner has, I believe, a chicken restaurant above; & maybe a pool room. You can ask around, or find the climbing gear shop by the Namdaemun market and ask. Take a Korean interpreter.
