WRONG!!!

You will NOT need to buy an HDTV in order to receive the new digital broadcasts, you will however need to buy an SDTV. An SDTV is simply a regular TV that is capable of receiving over the air signals in digital form. Current TV's (anything older than 3 or 4 years) is probably not capable of receiving these signals. Also, you will only need the digital converter box if you are getting your television from an antenna. If you have cable of satellite service, you do not need to change anything because your provider is doing the conversion for you.

It will probably be at least another 5 years (probably more) before everyone is broadcasting in HD only. The consumer equipment prices are coming down fast, but they are still not what I would consider "affordable" and until we see that happen, the market does not support the broadcasters changing everything to HD only... that stuff is PRICEY and they are in business to make money!!

Blue Ray is not a feature that is embeded into a TV it is something extra that you can ADD on to your current system if you want to. If you don't want it, who cares...I'll never buy it...

Just something else that is cool to say you have.
In about 6 to 10 years there will be no more DVD...everything with be Blue-Ray.

I stand corrected. I should have typed tv with digital tuner, instead of HD tv. Regardless, my point was to say that everyone will eventually go to this standard.
