BREAKING NEWS: Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Killed North Of Baghdad

Holy smokes! The #1 terrorist in Iraq has been killed according to the Iraqi PM. If this is true, this is a big victory for the US in Iraq.

He was the leader of Al-Qaida in Iraq and the coward who beheaded people on video while their hands were tied behind their back.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in Iraq, has been killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said al-Zarqawi was killed Wednesday evening along with seven aides.

The Jordanian-born militant, who was believed to have personally beheaded at least two American hostages, became Iraq's most wanted militant, as notorious as Osama bin Laden, to whom he swore allegiance in 2004. The United States had put a $25 million bounty on al-Zarqawi, the same as bin Laden.

This is also the guy who was the leader, but couldn't fire a rifle without and assistant.

Off course Democrats are in an uproar. They don’t get upset when an American is beheaded, but let the #3 terrorist in the world get killed, and they will get upset and blame President Bush for staging a stunt.

It looks like Zarqawi survived the initial blast and died several minutes after US forces arrived. He even tried to crawl off the stretcher to get away when he realized the US had him.

One of the attendees was Abu Mousab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. With him were at least three women and three men, including Sheik Abdul-Rahman, al-Zarqawi's so-called spiritual adviser and confidant. Also in the house was one of al-Zarqawi's most trusted couriers, an aide tasked with relaying messages from the commander to militants in the field. What al-Zarqawi could not have known was that U.S. and Jordanian intelligence officials had been tracking the movements of Abdul-Rahman and the courier--whom Jordanian intelligence refers to as Mr. X--for weeks. Fewer than half a dozen members of a U.S. reconnaissance and surveillance team from Delta Force hid in a grove of date and palm trees, watching the building. After years of hunting, they finally had the prey in their sights.
