Attack on Christianity?

There has been a disturbing trend around the world lately on religion. I have noticed schools around the world have almost forbidden Christianity from schools and government buildings, but have allowed other religions to flourish.

For instance, many schools in the U.S. have forbidden school prayer, but have had classes on Islam where students take on Muslim names and practice the religion for the full quarter.

The most recent example is in England. A principle suspended a girl for wearing a crucifix, but allows Sikh male pupils to wear the Kara, a bracelet. Here is a statement from the principle.

Quote:
Mr Jones said: "As a Christian I don't have to wear a crucifix but Sikhs don't have that option and we have to be understanding. We live in a multi-faith society."
This statement is very disturbing to me. Are we suppose to allow things in school because a student states, “well, my religion says I have to have.” In his own statement he is allowing one religion, but not another!

So, if a Muslim kills another student because he says, “the other student tried to convert me and in my religion converting a Muslim is punishable by death.” Or he cuts of a hand because he sees another student stealing? Or how about the woman in Florida who wanted to take her driver’s license picture with a veil on because he religion states she must were it?

Anyone up for starting a religion with me? I will be starting the umbay Religion. It is Bum in Pig Latin. We don’t work or go to school when it is not raining and we don’t believe in wearing clothing when going to school. I am sure the principle in England will understand because in this religion we must follow these guidelines.

Sweet Jesus! That is just messed up!

I've never been a religious type...in fact, I have no religion (which is just best kind! ~kidding). I don't have a problem with peoples' religious beliefs at all. They're all people and all my friends...just know where the line is drawn. I respect them and I don't think any of them are wrong for what they believe. [...as long as they don't try to force it upon me. Maybe I should become a Muslim so I can kill them!~kidding]

No, but seriously, suspending kids from school for just wearing a crucifix is just messed up; a bit too extreme, I think. It sends an awful message and just draws more anger.

In schools (and in life, for that matter) I think the line should be drawn between "letting people know your religion; who you stand for" to "trying to make people part of your religion"...am I making any sense? But, I guess it's the duty of the religion to convert people, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Plus, it's a pretty broad statement, which'll probably be defined in a thousand ways... BLAH! I really don't know what I'm talking about! Don't listen to me! ~hehe

But somehow all this sounds similar to the concept of being a minority. Like in the states you can have all types of minority clubs of all cultures and races, but you cannot have a "white-person club" without people going crazy about it.
