My problem is that politicians for years now have used tax dollars to pay private military companies (PMC) to perform military functions. That nonsense needs to stop. Depending on how the statement was reported is depending if it is a security violation. The NYT article might be one of those tactics to apease the left or another example of 'drop-the-ball' diplomacy we've been good at since 1980. Maybe if politicians stop playing politics and get down to real business and stay the course, NYT and WP would report something else. But then again there's my favorite paper the Guardian

If the president made that statment, SOMEONE would have that on a video somewhere and would have been all over the news.

You made a statment that you said our President made, Mike and I want to see the proof.

Your statment was not about how the country was run, it was about a statment the President made.

How the Country is being run is a totally diferent thread.

I just want to see where my Presdient said that. Thats all, not how the country is being run and what your perception is of how it is being run. I just want to see "that" statment you claim the President made.

Taichan,

It is obvious that the President never said that. I am also shocked by your follow on statements.

No, I don't know. How did you hear the President said that? At least show us a link.

Show proof of this. Taichan, you you may want to consider viewing sites other than bushlies.com. I am serious. There is no area that had more votes for Bush than people. That is totally bogus. Show me the evidence.

Ok, this sounds like an X-File episode.

I highly doubt the president said that. So show us where the President actually said the Constituation is just a god damn peice of paper!
I don't know the accuracy of the below site (since I don't have access to Lexis-Nexis) but I did manage to find the following:

Quote:
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”

And, to the Bush Administration, the Constitution of the United States is little more than toilet paper stained from all the shit that this group of power-mad despots have dumped on the freedoms that “goddamned piece of paper” used to guarantee. — Doug Thompson

Then why would you post it?

I can post "i had sex with the 1st lady" and people would believe it if I put enough stuff on my web page that agreed with them and what they believed.

And why is it on pages that are against the president? Well never mind that question.

If the president would have actually said that then it would have been all over the news, CNN would have had a field day with that. Hell, FOX news would have even run that story.

I'm sorry, but those site are just like that site that said "Camp Humphreys" is being watched because they put up 3 weather radars.

I believe Taichan made the statement and no one bothered looking up the stuff. If you reread the 1st link, it states 'if true'. The site would be considered anti-HSD, not Bush. Speculation and opinion go hand-in-hand so why bother posting anything.

As far as the sex with the 1st lady. No one would care.

sejongeb, you have to do better than post a blog as a source. I don't see a single link in that blog. Here is an example of the blogger you posted:

Quote:
I even hesitated to post this today, because Thompson is frequently an unreliable source of information, but something like this needs to be investigated and verified or refuted. (Such as his claim, in the very same post, that Alberto Gonzales said the Constitution was an outdated document. He actually said the Geneva Convention was outdated.
So, the blogger admits that his source was already wrong in the same article. It took me 1 minute to read that.

Taichan, unless you find better sources than bushlies.com or blogs, your credibility will suffer. Not trying to sound rude, but you are posting some of the worse sources I have seen to back up an argument.

So, far we have the the word of a guy, who heard it from an aide who heard the President say this. We don't have the name of the aid or anything else to back up this claim. And the guy who wrote the article has at least one error in his reporting, a major one at that.

I will add this. This is exactly what the left-wing in the world to day in and day out. If you say something long enough it becomes the truth. I see people say and post so many things like they are 100% factual, only to learn they are simply hearsay.

I have heard over and over that Republicans disenfranchise black people. Then when there are investigations into this, they turn up nothing. But people repeat it enough and it becomes the truth.

I have heard that Bush stole the election in Florida. Well, when people investigate they find out Bush actually won Florida by even MORE votes. Even the New York Times investigate the 2000 election in Florida and found that Bush won fair and square. Repeat something long enough and it becomes the truth.

Now, I have to hear that Bush said, "Ohio that had more people vote bush then there was people living there." and this bogus statement about Bush and the constitution.

Do the research or you become a sheep following the crowd!

Mike
