What is your view on Iraq?

I will start the discussion stating that I'm for going to war in Iraq and for completing the job before we pull our troops out. That being said, there were a lot of bad decisions made after the war like sending the Iraqi army home with their guns and being to delicate in handling insurgants.

Retired General Tommy Franks who was the commander of all forces for Iraqi Freedom said it best. He stated in an interview that the problem with the occupation was the "catastrophic victory" in the war. He explained that the U.S. military moved so fast into Baghdad, that we did not kill enough of the die hards in the fighting. In a "typical" war you fight long enough to kill the true believers on the other side. In this case, the people backing the Saddam regime. Our problem was winning so fast, the die hard "true believers" simply blended into society after the war and removal of Saddam to fight the second war: the insurgency.

I believe 100% that we will complete the job in Iraq and Iraq will be a great place to visit in 5 years. Iraq has always had some of the smartst people in the world and a leader in the Middle East. This was all before Saddam of course.

Last week the Iraqis voted on their constitution! They had turn outs on average of 60-80%. That is much more than any American or European can say. This is the first true democracy in the Middle East.

For anyone who thinks Saddam never had WMD, I suggest you check out theis website.

I would be interested to hear other opinions on the subject. I am always up for a debate with someone for us pulling out of Iraq now and believe we should have never gone to war in the first place.
