Re: captain america

Chuck opinion is just that, opinion. A person basis theirs off what they have experienced or from listening to others. There are many who have had a bad experience in one country or other and do not keep an open mind, for example our reputation as the "Ugly American".

People will not change their opinion especially if they get chastised for having theirs, by people who have not even inquired as to why they have that opinion. Such is life. I find it best not to jump to judge.

Re: captain america

Yes people do have there opinions. If we keep fueling him with responses then he will continue to stay on this board.

He already thinks he is above us and better than us. Read his comment to Mr. Joe "You cannot afford to live where I live" or something like that.

He has made his opinions and does nothing except to bash Korea. He has done that several times on this board already, who is jumping to judge?

Mr. Joe is on a distinguished road
Talking Re: captain america

Like water off of a duck's back, I'm not concerned about comments from a visitor who has no idea where I live! Chucksee knows, and a few others, that I live a stone's throw from the president of Samsung's mansion and near the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Not a shabby neighborhood, in my book!
Nor am I going to ignore Captain America in the hopes he will go away. His opinions may at first inflame those of us who enjoy Korea, knowing that there is no place that is perfect. We are blessed that we have been here long enough to understand the spirit of the common people, and are able to overlook minor things that are very irritating to a newcomer, but become a part of life for those of us who choose to remain longer than most. We know the true character of Korea, and better understand the reasons why one could easily believe that "Korea is the place logic comes to die!"
I still can't completely disagree with that statement, and I have over 10 years in this country.( I wish I had said that, and not Captain America.)
Don't think of me as a traitor, but more of a realist. Sometimes I too have felt that Korea and Logic in the same sentence is an oxymoron. The first time I saw a maintenance man using a step- ladder at Osan, he grabbed a four foot flourescent lamp and climbed up the wrong side of the step-ladder! Well, his logic may have told him that one big step may have been faster than six small ones. One man's logic was 180 degrees out from mine. Does that make the whole country backwards? They are trying harder everyday.
You have to admire that.
