Sick and tired
This bird flu pandemic has been blown totally out of proportion. I'm sorry but I just don't buy it. If the majority of Asia hasn't seen a huge outbreak of the virus what makes the US think that it is going to hit them. There has been fewer than 200 cases of infected humans worldwide, (majority of them here in Southeast Asia) if you didn't know South Korea found 19 infected chickens now you do. I guess it isn't that bad to be safer than sorry, but come on really how many deadly virus' are out there just hibernating like a ticking time bomb without a timer.. The scary thing is that if a huge outbreak happens there is no way to stop the spread with the ease of transportation this day in age. There is really just so many things I would rather our country spent 7.1 billion dollars on ESPECIALLY on a vaccine that with just one mutation of the virus will render the prevention useless. A pandemic may be what this world needs as bad as that may sound to thin out the population (especially all those baby-boomers who are sucking up all my social security, haha j/k) in reality these types of things are inevitable and at best just post-poneable. If it isn't the bird flu today it will just be some other disease tomorrow. Your best bet on surviving this thing is to eat healthy and stay fit. ****adoodledo.

Ghostface,
I tend to agree with you. The bird flu reminds me of the Y2K scare. People have been talking about 100s of millions dying if the bird flu mutates. I have a feeling much of this is politics. President Bush was blamed for doing nothing during Katrina (even though much was done). I have a feeling these billions are being spent so he can say "We did spend $7 billion on prevention."
