Hadji Girl
There is a video on YouTube that has caused a stir. A Marine in a Iraq sang a funny song about running into an insurgent family and having to kill them. He wrote the chorus from the "Team America: World Police" movie.
Off course, the media went into a frenzy and senior Marines had to apologize. Just look back at the news in the past few days. Here is a great video that show the entire song with the words. Was this song overboard or just some Marines blowing off some steam?

Unfortunately, this looks really bad when put in the context of the Haditha investigation. It's clearly not for public consumption, but you know how these things go. All of the troops love it, it gets popular and someone puts it out into the public eye, someone who doesn't understand it cries foul, and then leadership has to crack down. Reminds me of what happened with the Air Force Gold Bond video, the fake AF recruiting video, etc., though this is obviously a lot more politically charged.
Frickin' hilarious by the way, if you can relate to the actual intent.

I can see this from both sides.
Young enlisted Marines see it, laugh, and understand. Officers and senior NCO's understand, but will have reservations due to their more educated experiences with how outsiders may interpret the meaning, and the consequences that can ensue. Non-military folks can, and probably will, come to a hundred different conclusions and interpretations, mostly reflecting negatively on the singer. The media, ours and theirs, will blow it out of proportion, and milk it for all the propaganda and profit they can. A sad commentary, but we live in such a world. God bless the Marines. ![]() |
