Not true. We did not go to war to find WMD at the time of the invasion. We went to war based on intelligence some 6 months earlier. Thanks to the UN and the stalling, there was plenty of time for Saddam to move or dismantle any program. This is like a DEA agent telling a drug dealer that he will be visiting the dealers house a few days later. Then when the DEA agent shows up to the house he is supposed to be surprised that only a few ounces of drugs are there?

We can all agree though, that unexploded chemical ordinance abandoned in Iraq is of the greatest danger for the US and our troops right now.
Agreed and I am glad we found 500 of them before the terrorists.

Why do we need to find the mother lode? We will have to invade Iraq or there was never a mother lode to find. We may never know in the unclassified world.

I guess the 200,000 U.S. troops that fought in the Iraq war fought wore chemical warfare suits in the 100 degree sun because they were reading "hyped" intelligence? Or did they were it because they read reports that 99.9% of civilians do not have access to? Also, let's ask the Kurds or Iranians if Saddam had chemical weapons. Well, we can ask the ones that survived.

I trust the judgement of the US intelligence community that have access to classified information over the armchair generals that have access to newspapers and no real intelligence.

Your opinion based off reading the newspaper.

Again, your opinion.

wrong on all parts mike.

1. read the portion marking. it's unclassified.
2. this isn't opinion based off a newspaper. enough said.
3. not an opinion.

but anyhow. enough said.

Bob,

Do some research. This document was produced from a senate request to release a CLASSIFIED document. Instead of releasing the a classified document the information was DECLASSIFIED and NGIC produced the unclassified version of the document. This is not the original document with black lines, but it is a declassified report.

Are you chums with Gen Powell and he told you this? It is your opinion. Here is what you said.

Quote:
probably his main reason for not staying on as Secretary of State. He got tired of the hype.
If you are going to start a sentence with "probably why" it is you opinion.

Until then, we all know the dangers of Iraq were hyped up.
Bob, this is your opinion. "We all know.." Oh really? I would bet I could poll this forum and show you differently. So, saying everyone knows that the dangers in Iraq were hyped up is your opinion.

So, correct on all parts.

Point taken. What was disputed was whether he continued production and research into chemical weapons and had stockpiles of chemical weapons at the time preceding the US invasion. These weapons were produced before the 1991 Gulf war and were apparently misplaced, disposed improperly or were fired, but malfunctioned. This information doesn't do anything but support that Saddam had chemical weapons before 1991, which is not debated by anyone.
