What it boils down to, is these guys race to see who gets to the seen of an accident first (means $$ for them). They will go to the extent of driving down the wrong side of the street to get where they are going and run red lights as well..so beware! Had a couple close calls where one was headed right towards me in my lane.
Ohhhhhhhhh, well you cleared this incident right up for me!

I'll post it as it was posted in my blog:

What a crazy evening...

I was on my way back from dropping a friend off and was at a stop light.. the front spot mind you. Then this Ambulance comes racing from my right and a tow truck is coming from the opposite direction as me, and they plow into each other.. One of the guys came flying out of the ambulance and the tow truck went into a building.

I hope those ppl live.. I also thank my lucky stars that neither one tried to avoid the other and hit us.. it happened RIGHT in front of me..

The tow truck is the vehicle that went into that bldg

Cool Re: Drivers notes - only for Korea!

Very true- they are like ambulance chasers and lawyers in America, listening to the emergency room radios and racing to be first at the scene!
Be careful. Give in.

While on the subject; when you are driving in the outside (Right) lane in traffic, be sure and leave room on your right for the occasional motorcycle to pass you at high speed on the right! This is considered common courtesy, as most of them make their living delivering goods, at high speed. If you do not leave room, you may lose a mirror or get scratched on the right by a motorcycle or scooter who mis-judges distance! Don't expect him to stop and apologise or pay, and often they do not have license numbers for you to write down. So leave enough room on the right, and turn and look beside you before turning right!

Re: Drivers notes - only for Korea!

I do Mr. Joe - I'm always looking for scooters whether changing lanes or even turning.

However, how would a tow truck beating an Ambulance to the scene of an accident let them have more money? Unless they're skilled paramedics? LOL And who do they get the money from if they get there first?

The biggest danger I have found about motor scooters is when they are driven by a coffee girl in a mini-skirt. I find this to be a dangerous distraction.

Haven't seen anything like that in Seoul- I'm 10 years older than you, but I do understand what you mean!

For Girl20Racer:
B4Real meant the first tow truck on the scene gets the towing fee!

Men are from Mars-women are from Venus. We just don't think alike!
Men are meant to clarify...
and watch out for coffee girls on scooters...
