Registering your website with the top 100 Search engines
It is important to register your website with as many search engines as possible! This is one of the critical areas webmaster fail at. 90% of visitors find websites through search engines and most find your site through Yahoo, MSN and Google. At least register with the big three! Here is the best site I have found yet to register your site. It lists the top 100 search engines according to Alexa. Each link brings you straight to the registration page.

Isn't there another way to come up on search hits without having to register with the search engines. If I remember they use to charge for that but you di, on Yahoo get guarenteed to show at the top of the page. Am I wrong or has that changed?

To come up at the top is "Sponsored" searches. You must pay for the position and each click. It can get expensive. I do it with Yahoo and Google at the moment. If you build a site with Search Engine Optimization in mind and register it with many search engine you will get the best result for your site coming up high in the search engines for free.
Go to Google and type "usfk" and you will see this site and the classifieds come up very high for free. Mike

There is no cost involved in registering? I thought there was a way when building a website that you can set it so the search engine finds you? I was looking in some of my notes from a few years back (like about 8) and could not find that part. When i have some time at work today I will research it a little as I have a server build tonight and those ar long and boring waiting for stuff to load. I'll post what I find.
This is what I mean but I want to apply it to a blog but not sure how to execute it: Google Spiders/crawls the Web and ODP monthlyfor web sites (submitting a site not necessary) Increases the rank of your website by the number and quality (keywords!) of links to it
