I do not pay monthly, I pay $109 for an entire year and that gets me 5 gigs of storage space, unlimited databases and email addresses, and 75 gigs of bandwidth which resets each month. You can pay for that plan monthly and it costs you 9.95 per month, I just chose to pay the annual charge instead. Here is a link if you want to check it out: http://hostpc.com/hosting.php

If you're looking for another program similar to vBulletin but with no initial fee, look at http://www.phpbb.com The new version that is in beta testing now is amazing.

Re: Need a webhost? Recommended hosts!

Since I'm in the Navy and move around a lot, I wanted my server to be in a stable location so I made a deal with my parents and I will make any sites they want for them and they provide the Business DSL line with a static IP address. You don't need a static address though as therer is something called DynDNS that will let update the ip address in the DNS records if it changes.

Are you Navy now ? Im also from Korean Navy.
Maybe, do u know Jinhae port in Korea ?
I have seen U.S Navy ship there when I was in the navy.
U.S. warship is very very big than our ship.

Btw, I know DynDNS. It's free domain site and I used it a few years ago.

ANother excellent piece of php based forum software is Simple Machines Forum or SMF for short. The admin panel is slick as hell and modifying it could not be easier! I have never managed a vbulletin site, but I hear they are pretty cool as well.

I haven't tried the SMF yet but I've heard good things. Keep in mind that with all these scripts, the choice on which to use needs to be based upon what the needs to the site are. If you want just a forums site, then SMF, vBulletin, phpBB or many others are a great choice. Or if you want a site that has a great picture gallery the choices would be Gallery2 or Coppermine Gallery. If you want a high-powerd bug tracker there's Mantis and many others. For blogging the best is Wordpress and there are a lot of modules for Wordpress out there that can add in a lot of other functionality. All these things that I've listed so far are individual setups though and for a lot of sites I've done, the end goal wanted more than just forums or pictures or blogging or bugtracking or file downloads or news or eCommerce or any number of other things. That is where a Content Management system like PostNuke or Joomla or Mambo or phpNuke, or ... there are 100's come in. As I've said before, my personal choice is PostNuke because of the modules available. It would be ok without the modules, but I'd probably use something else, with the modules though it is SOOOO much better. There are modules for PostNuke out there that combine all the systems I just listed in all sharing one database. It's great having a forums, a blog, a picture gallery, ecommerce and many other things all in one site with one user login. That is why I like PostNuke so much and recommend it to be used. I'm sure a lot of the other CMS's out there have similar modules, but for me, all the standalone programs I would use separately are integrated into PostNuke so there's no need for me to look elsewhere.

So, Have you been Chinhae where located U.S. Navy base ?
I often saw U.S. warship and U.S. Navy solders there.
They are too cool man. and I like your uniform.
Btw, what do you do in the navy ?

And have you fought with your enemy ?
It means your actual fighting experience.
I have actual fighting experience with N.Korea's navy.

Re: Need a webhost? Recommended hosts!

I use Bluehost.com and I'm pretty happy with them. I have 15GB of space, 40GB of transfer bandwidth and they include tools to make forums, photo albums, etc.
