Police: Korean worker left gate open before fire

This story doesn't make me feel that Yongsan is secured too well.

Quote:
South Korean police have taken a woman into custody who claimed that night that she started the fire. She has not been charged and has refused to answer questions from police about how she got on base, Oh said.

The service corps employees — two managers and three workers — were returning to their office shortly after midnight to sleep after a night of dinner, drinking and Korean-style karaoke, Lee and others have told police since the March 16 fire.

But Lee also told police he found the gate, called Gate 22, unlocked, and police suspect another service corps manager who was ahead of Lee also failed to secure the gate, which is near Yongsan Garrison’s Gate 1 and the scene of the fire.

The fire was first reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. It drew nearly 200 firefighters and took more than three hours to bring under control. It swept through three buildings, two on Yongsan Garrison and a third on the Korean Service Corps compound.
What were all the anti-protest police doing? There are hundreds of them walking around. Don't any of them check the gates to see if they are locked? Finally, this goes to show when you continue to spew anti-U.S. hatred, many of your citizens will act in a violent way. There are many groups in South Korea that are Pro-North Korea or simply want the U.S. to leave. People like President Roh keep spewing anti-U.S. rhetoric and this is why people go onto Yongsan and burn down buildings.

Wink Yongsan Mystery Fire

They will get the lady to talk. They just haven't found the right button to push yet. (They no longer can use the Chinese water torture nor the bamboo strips under the fingernails.)
The Korean Service people have their own gate, near gate 1, but not in direct sight of the US hired guards. Normally locked at night. I doubt they are allowed to sleep in the office at night. (Drunks sleeping often smoke in bed.)

The Korean National Police augmentees are not normally around at night, as their duties are strictly Protestor & Riot Control. They have no other duties as far as I know. I don't think they have any duties like gate protection. Their main (boring) mission is to survive until their 25 month duty in lieu of military service is finished. The poor kids aren't even supposed to converse with foreigners, it appears. (I have given them candy when their Sergeant wasn't looking.)
