Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

I work all over, but generally can be contacted in or near Camp Coiner. I drive out as as far as area 1 and out to sites in the outskirts of Area 2. I like that part. Most folks don't understand driving in Korea. I do. Have you been over the hill up behind YS HS and then down toward gate 3? It goes by a hardware store, a nice under- the -corner grocery, the Philly Steak place, where the haegwon teachers hang out, and the VFW. That is a nice long walk, maybe too steep for a bike, and a little farther takes you under the street and up to the TACO place. Real Mexican owner. Me? I'll stick with the Navy club.

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

I have not walked that way yet, but perhaps that can be next weekend's trek. I am working for a portion of this weekend so who knows what my adventure will be after work! One thing is for sure, I will report back with anything I think is cool.

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

If you want the best pizza try Papa John's off post. It's really good. There is also a great little pizza place near where I live by Gate 3. I get a large chicken with a bottle of Pepsi for just under 10,000 won. Not bad.

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

I actually have a tradition of making Pizza Hut the first pizza I try in any country (don't ask) but I am not in a big hurry to do so... still have 11 months left!

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

New guy here. I'll be moving into Huam dong today. Really sweet apartment. I'll be looking for the italian for sure, and likely the pub, too. What interests me, though, are the closeby little hole-in-the-wall Korean eateries. Anybody recommend any of those?

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

Where are you moving in at? There are several little places mixed in at the bottom of the hill near WooriBank.

Here is a map showing where the Italian place is, the scale is a bit goofy but the green marker is pointing at it, and you can get to it from the main road to the left of the marker... just turn right at the KAIST optical shop (just after the bridge) and you will walk right into it. Just for reference the purple building at the bottom of the image (which is basically at the bottom of the big hill) is just short of 500 meter from the "destination point" marker.

I live in Dauming Villa, which is a stone's throw from that Italian place.... no idea if that means anything to you, but there you go... :-)

Re: Anyone here living in Huam dong?

Map? What map?
anyway, SSNapier, I sent you my secret phone #, so get ahold of me at work, and maybe we can do the electronic center or lunch at the USO soon.
For those that don't know, the Electronics Center doesn't normally open on Sundays. Only the second Sunday of the Month! That is really good to know. (Your'e welcome!)
The Seoul Computer Club Meets from 2 till 4 on the Second Saturday! ] Upstairs at the USO, outside Gate 1, across the street. I'll try to publish taxi directions some time.
