Partnership with KScene magazine

I took a trip to Seoul today to get a few key items done. I met with Mr. Joe a.k.a the Colonel (from KFC). We had a good lunch at the Dragon Hill Lodge on Yongsan.

On the business side I met with the owner of KScene Magazine, Song Yong Eui. We talked for several hours about a partnership between his print magazine and online site, and USFK Classifieds and Forums. KScene Magazine is a popular, bi-Weekly magazine for expats in Seoul and Inchon. The company prints 20,000 copies and distributes them throughout Seoul. I will be posting details as the come out.

So far, it looks like I will be writing some articles for the magazine regarding military life in Korea. Additionally, we will get some ad space in his magazine. In return, I will help his website design and promote his magazine and website on my sites. These are just the first steps.

Anyone read the KScene Magazine? Any thoughts? I think this partnership will be a big plus to our recruitment effort for new members.

Next I will be talking to the publishers of the Morning Calm.

K Scene used to be called the Seoul Classified and it's generally good.
I'm not sure if they still run ads from rip-off juicy bars in it, though.

WARNING:Stay away from the Morning Calm Weekly (Oriental Press.)
The owner Charles Chong is a crook and has used the US Army for his own selfish endeavors. This is not a False Accusations, or made up.. I was the General Manager there from May 2005-Dec 2005. I resigned because he owes me $25,000.00 in commissions and earnings and would not pay me. He is a crook Mike. He uses Oriental Press as a front to target military members to buy his products on base (Business cards, shoes, key chains, trophies, banner, and etc.) You might have heard of Shoe Tech International or The Coin Factory? These two company names along with Oriental Press are all one entity. He does not have a merchants license to sale his products on base, and that's exactly what he does. He has Vietnames working in his factory (Sweat Shop) and pays them under what is required by Korean Law, and then sales his products to the US Military. He's bribed many US Military Officials.... FACT! and he kisses ass to the Officers Wives of the Chosun Gift Shop by providing free services to them in order to win them over.
He's smart and deceptive but he had one big mistake! He kept two books?
This guy is lower than dirt and if you do business with him, you will eventually need some vaseline for the shafting you're going to receive.

K-Scene is hot, I know Mr. Song and you will definately do great things with this guy in your corner.

adding insult to injury to Charles Chong and the Oriental Press!

If you do business with this organization? know this....
He is not a US Citizen anymore after his divorces a year ago, so why the hell he has a military contract is beyond me. His girlfriend has an ID and Ration card which allows all SOFA privledges and drives a blue corvette around Yongsan, must be nice having those luxuries? She does nothing for the military and is not a government contractor! All employees there during my time were terminated so nobody would spill the beans about his sweatshop and girlfriend (FACT). He threatened to fire me once because I would not solicit prostitutes with him. He said, "that was Korean custom." (My ass!)

Charlie,

This thread is a little old. the relationship with K-Scene is developing rather slow. I just got an e-mail from Mr. Song today and he wants to move forward. He is without a webmaster so I may offer my services up to him.

I will not be working with The Oriental Press. It just never worked out with them. Thanks for the heads up though!

Re: Partnership with KScene magazine

I think it's a good idea. The KScene is a pretty good Magazine.

The Southern Star died years ago, the only thing we get here at Camp Carroll is The Morning Calm Weekly.
