Restaurant to try

I'm meeting a friend up at Itaewon tommorrow. Looking for a good place to meet and maybe grab dinner.
So far my knowledge of Itaewon is limited to Geckos and Starbucks. Can anyone suggest a nice sit-down place that I should try?

Re: Restaurant to try

There are a lot of good places. If you want Western style there is an Outback Restaurant.

On the opposite side of the street of Starbucks their is an outstanding French Restaurant. Just walk on the opposite side of the street of Starbucks from the Yongsan Side and it is on the left.

If you like Indian and Pakistani try Alsaba. Here is their ad and their menu. It is at the beginning of Itaewon coming from Yongsan. Print-out the coupon on their page and get 10% off. It is on the same side of Starbucks but at the very beginning of Itaewon coming from Yongsan.

Hope that helps!

Re: Restaurant to try

If you like sushi, there's a good fusion-sushi place at the intersection between Outback and Starbucks on the same side of the street...I forget what it's called--Spicy Roll or Crunchy Roll or something like that.

Re: Restaurant to try

They are not in Itaewon, but I highly recommend Il Vino Rosso (Italian) and Uncle Joe's (German). I tried Outback a week or so ago and was not very impressed... although it was well cooked.

Wink Re: Reply to Burbanite! Restaurant to try

My friends who frequent Itaewon recommend the Chinese restaurant behind the Hamilton Hotel, and the restaurants inside the Hotel. There are lots of places on the street behind the Hamilton. Jackie Chan has a franchise there! Reviews say it is not so special.
Since you are 12 years old, and may not want to spend $20 for lunch, I recommend Subway-sort of across the street from the Hamilton. It is clean, and the sandwiches are very good!

Additional info: The Brand New "I Park" theme at Yongsan Station on the Gate 19 Side of Yongsan has some VERY nice restaurants on the Second Floor, above the train station!
They are in a MALL type configuration, all clean and air conditioned, and have Pizza, Sandwiches, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and more! Very nice! And they are not super expensive, like some in Itaewon.
To get there from Yongsan, walk out gate 19 to the intersection, cross the street by walking 40 feet LEFT & DOWN into Shin Yongsan Station, walk directly across and up the stairs on your left. Walk down HangangRo to the light. Turn right and go to the next light. You will see a super large complex ahead on your left. It is I Park, E Mart, and Yongsan train station all in one. Carefully cross the streets and go up the giant escalators in the front center. Explore it all, and after you find the Train Station level, take any escalator up to the next level. You will enjoy the trip. (Print this and put in your wallet, so you won't get completely lost, as English signs disapppear after you leave the subway station.)

Re: Restaurant to try

I wondered if you were actually 12, or just dyslexic! (I normally read all the info on new member's posts. It is embarassing for me to give directions to an Itaewon bar, for instance, to someone 8 years old or living in New Zeland! Either way, a genuine welcome to the forum, and we will do what we can to insure you enjoy the Special City of Seoul!

Re: Restaurant to try

Try Cabayan. It's up the alley from Dolce Vita on the right. The Philippino food there is excellent and the owner Jovee is super.

Re: Restaurant to try

Just ate at kabayan twice during my most recent visit, and the food is still excellent! Jovee had a baby and her husband was minding the store. Highly recommended. Also ate Thai food at Buddha's Belly, in the same alley as 3-alley, Scrooge, and Electric cat. Great food, great Singha!
