Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

Not round trip but for my wife and son I paid a litlle under $1200.

I used this website...... www.bt-store.com

My mother in-law just paid $1038 for a round trip from Nashville/Japan/Inchoen with the above site.

Also was introduced to this site www.bootsnall.com weird name fairly good prices. The only problem is they lure you in with a round trip price of around $600 and then when they send you the full price the taxs are $500. Nothing is set in stone, but they e-mail you the full price.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

In the recent past I always purchased my tickets from the Airline ticket office in the DHL. I usually chose KAL because they had nonstop flights. Delta code shares with KAL. The way I understand it. On each flight the airline will set aside an x number of seats for the discount fare. X number of seats for Delta code share, and the rest are full fare seats (normally purchased by normal Korean travelers). The Delta discounted seats are about $50.00 more than the KAl discounted seats. You need ID card to purchase the discount seats.

Back in the 90s I use to purchase my tickets at the Air Line travel office outside Osan's main gate. Apparently they can get the discount tickets also. I found they were about $100.00 cheaper than the same ticket at SATO on base. Not sure if that is still true.

I once priced tickets downtown Seoul at a travel agency and found the prices much higher than on post/near base offices.

Without discounts, I think KAL and Asiana are more expensive than other available airlines.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

I have only been able to look on line and they do not show a military rate. It is a good bit more money to fly non stop. I do not think prices will get any cheaper as the cost of airline fuel etc seems to be going up. Thinking of meeting my son half way in Hawaii but then there is no family to stay with so the cost ends up more. Looks like I will just send the wife and wait for him to come back after he finishes his 2 years there.

Most will not give a military rate? Also they will not give a child rate, some will but most will not? The best thing to do is give them a call, which ever carrier or websire you decide to go with.

Mike, may want to think about STICKYING this thread.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

The cheapest I found when I was making my travel arrangement over a month ago was with Singapore airline. I just go directly to the airline website and made my purchase there. Direct flight to/from Incheon and San Francisco is $950 after the conversion.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

If you have been reading, you saw I flew one way KAL Las Vegas to Incheon for $800. Moonsite said round trip by Singapore AL for under $1000--- Google Cheapfares.com, AirGorilla.com, Thai Air and Singapore Air. There are others under bargain air fares, etc. Check your on -post or on- base fares if you are eligible. For example, I liked the AirGorilla fare, and went to the Nellis AFB Ticketing Office and got it for the same price. The discount offices usually get $20 to $50 for their services, but are able to quickly find the cheapest or fastest way, whatever you are looking for on their network. I had trouble with using my credit card to pay for my daughter's ticket on line, because of rules that the card must be in the same name of the person flying. No such rules applied when paying in person at the Base. You have to search for the best flight, and the prices constantly change. Northwest seems only good now if they have a special. $1200 one way used to be a fair price, I am told, but now there is competition, and Singapore and Thai seem like good bets.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

I just checked Singapore airline the other day. Round trip ticket from SFO to Incheon is only $702. That is very cheap. You have to fly by a certain date though.

Re: Discount Airline Tickets - What's the Scoop

If you live or are visiting SF, Seattle, LA you can get it cheap but check the price to and from DFW. 1400 non stop and nothing under $1100. Oh well it is even more if you are trying to fly from like Oklahoma City or some of the smaller cities in the US.
