Re: Subway Station name?

It's Sinyongsan. Take Exit 1 when you leave to come out closest to the street that leads you to the gate. Samgakji is the one that is within walking distance of the PX.

There are two gates you might be thinking of. Gate 17 is near the 121. It's a big gate that you can sign people in at. That station is Ichon. The other gate is a ways away and that one is Sinyongsan.

Can you give directions from Ichon to 121? I've always used Sinyongsan. I didn't think the walk to 121 was that bad but if Ichon brings you closer then I will start going that way.

Re: Subway Station name?

Ichon brings you to Gate 17, Sinyongsan gets you to gate 19. Ichon is certainly closer if you are walking.

Re: Subway Station name?

Thanks, I think :-)

I believe Sinyongsan is the one I want...I vaguely remember a taxi driver pointing it out to me once.

Cool Re: Subway Station name?

Shinyongsan is maybe 600-800 feet farther from the 121 hosp as the Ichon station. It is a toss -up depending on which direction you are traveling. Ichon is on the DARK BLUE Line (stop131),which is ALSO (stop 430) on the Blue line.

If you are pushing a stroller or carrying bags, I think Shinyongsan would be more direct, except for using the elevator in the subway station. At Ichon, you may arrive on the surface train tracks, then have to go down and cross the street to gate 17, which may not be so easy. Of course, if you are really burdened, it may be easier to get a taxi (inside Gate 17 ) which can transport your bags if you are not able to walk the two blocks to the 121.

Yes, you can walk or drive through gate 19.

Re: Subway Station name?

When you exit Ichon can you see the gate? What exit do you come out of?

Cool Re: Subway Station name?

I can't answer about Ichon station. I got on at Ichon station a long time ago. It was a surface train stop. I'm only guessing the stop (K131) means K-Rail.
Yes, you can see gate 17 across the street, (but you can't cross right there.)

Every time I come up from Osan by subway I get off at Yongsan station, (as that train does not go to Ichon,) and walk out exit 1, down the escalator and walk 2 blocks to Shinyongsan Station to cross the street and up/out exit 1 by the Yongsan Post Office and walk in gate 19.
One can continue riding to Seoul Station, get off and walk the same distance inside around Seoul Station to change trains to the blue line and go back south to Shinyongsan station (#428). You may waste 45 minutes.
(Yongsan station and Shinyongsan are not connected.)

Without someone who speaks Korean, it may be nearly impossible to hop a Korean Taxi from Yongsan station to Gate 19, unless you can say Yongsan Post Office (YONGSAN OOH JAE KOOK). (One way streets make it difficult.)Then have him continue driving down the RIGHT side of the P.O. 1 block to Gate 19. From there you can walk or call from the guard shack to get a Post taxi.
