Realtors in Yongsan?

Can anyone provide a contact number and website (if there is any) of realtors around Yongsan? (I have checked the website of Nicerent.com and USFK.net.)

I have contacted Julie's realtor a couple months ago and I heard that place is off-limit for USFK personnel since then.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Realtors in Yongsan?

Hmm, there used to be some ads in the Community Connection for some reators but I was just looking in Feb and March additions and there are none now. I know there is an office right outside Hannam Village but I don't know the name but when I go out I will be sure to write it down and come back and post it. Hopefuly it's not Julie's.

Re: Realtors in Yongsan?

I am a big fan of Acres and Dollars. If you go out gate 52 (by the comissary) and turn right, then make the very next right at the light, it is halfway down on the left. If you go out the walking gate down near CIF, go across the walking bridge and then head right for a few hundred feet, and you will see it.

Any of them are good, but I dealt directly with Terry.

I can get you a phone number if you really need it, but

Re: Realtors in Yongsan?

The realtors around US military bases are very local - they tend only to cover the immediate area around their office. And they will only show you places that are listed with them. So you could go to an apartment complex and see an apartment with a floor plan you like, but decide against it because you don't want to live on the 2nd floor - you want something higher up. And the realtor will say - sorry - that's the only one available. When in fact, there are several other apartments in the same building available.

So go out and check out some of the neighborhoods around the base and decide which one you'd like to live in, and then find a realtor in that neighborhood. If that realtor doesn't find something you like - don't feel bad about switching to someone else. As I mentioned previously - they will only show you what they have in their own listings. And they generally don't share listings and split commissions - so it behooves you to quickly switch realtors if after a day or two they haven't found something you like.

Cool Re: Realtors in Yongsan?

Yes-Multiple Listing Service (MLS) common in the U.S. doesn't apply here. Most all are exclusive listings. There are cases, if you insist that you have to have a different apartment in the same building, sometimes the realtor will find the person who has it listed and cut a deal for part of the commission, as a favor to you, but they make more money if you take what they have to offer. For the same reason realtors hate MLS in the U.S., but have pledged to cooperate by using the wider advertising of MLS.
If you like a certain apartment, ask around that neighborhood, as Willy said, and you will find who handles them. New apartments may let you talk to the owner, it never hurts to ask. Have a Korean friend with you to insure good understanding. Don't sign anything until you contact your housing office.
My trustworthy realtor is Danny Kim in the Itaewon area- (02)-795-4999, from the US 011-822-795-4999 after 10AM.

Yes indeed, you can always try to deal directly with the owner.

But...

Some realtors will steadfastly refuse to reveal who the owner is because it is in their best interest (read: $$$) to be the go between.

And...

Some owners don't like dealing directly with renters. You never know when they'll call you (middle of the night to tell you about a leak...for example). A Korean friend of mine was furious at his wife because she spoke directly with a tenent and being a softie...got talked into lowering the deposit and the rent because the people living in the apartment were experiencing financial difficulties.
