New Baby visa questions

I just had my baby a few months ago. In the process I have applied and recieved my child's passport. I was recently speaking to my husband's CO about how to get my child's visa. She informed me that all I needed was the sofa stamp not the visa. A friend of mine has informed me that I do need the visa. Will anyone that has been through this before help clear this up for me. Does my child need a visa or does she just need the sofa stamp?

Re: New Baby visa questions

From www.travel.state.gov for Korea

Active-duty U.S. military personnel may enter the Republic of Korea under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with proper Department of Defense (DOD) identification and travel orders. Every civilian accompanying the force, including DOD civilian employees, invited contractors and family members, must have a valid passport to enter Korea and should obtain an A-3 SOFA visa prior to arrival in Korea. Active duty military personnel should obtain a tourist passport prior to leaving the U.S. to accommodate off-duty travel elsewhere in Asia. DOD travelers should consult the DOD Foreign Clearance Guide before leaving the U.S.

The A-3 is the Visa and the SOFA is the SOFA stamp. Not sure where the Army folks get them at Yongsan. The Immigration office at Osan requires a Verificaiton of Assignment letter to accompany the passport in order to get the stuff to make you legal.
