Where Will I Live Help Please

Hello All

I Dont Have A Clue About Korea And Thats Fine, My Only Concern Is How Do Youngsan Garrison Place Staff Nco For Housing . I Just Want To Know When I Check In Will I Receive A Barracks Room Is There A Staff Barracks Or Will I Be Force To Find A Place Out In Town. So Again I Am A Single Gysgt In The Marines Reporting To Youngsan Garrison And I'm Wondering Where Would A Single Gysgt Live. I'm New To Korea But Never New To Deploying Overseas. Thanks For Your Help I'm Just Trying To Prepare And If Anyone Have Pics Of The Inside That Would Be Great So I Can Plan On What To Bring Or Not To Bring.
Semper Fi.

Re: Where Will I Live Help Please

Here is housing specifically: https://onestop.army.mil/menu-uph.asp?baseid=259&k=0

E6 and below need to plan on residing on-post, while senior personnel may possibly reside in off-post in the Furnished Apartment Program. Unaccompanied grades E-6 and below are required to reside in the barracks, based on barracks space availability, E-5 and E-6 may be assigned to Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ). If Barracks and BEQ’s are not available, E-5/6 then may be authorized to participate in the Furnished Apartment Program. The program provides economy housing for unaccompanied personnel in which service member's rent an apartment with 2 or 3 bedrooms and 1.5 to 2 bathrooms.

And here is loads of useful links: http://yongsan.korea.army.mil/sites/...newcomers.html

Basically, just don't worry about any of this until you get here. The housing office will give you a list of approved Korean realtors and the realtors will do EVERYTHING for you to get you settled into a nice place. They've got the system completely wired. They will find you a place, take care of all the utilities (to include cable tv and internet), etc. Pretty much all you have to do is take the paperwork they give you back to housing.

It's a very streamlined and efficient system.

You might want to contact MARFOR-K if you haven't already done so. I'm sure they would be very helpful also.

Cool Re: Where Will I Live Help Please

Don't get the idea that an E-7 has to live off post/base! You probably will have a choice. It is just most folks want to.
We are assuming you are coming to Yongsan, is that right? If so, Willy is correct. Don't worry. You will be glad you came.
