[GI Korea] KNP Guards Recognized at Yongsan Garrison

Published: Thu, 22 Jun 2006 14:25:32 +0900

It is good to see these guys receive some appreciation for the thankless job they do:

The Korean National Police guards who toured Yongsan Garrison on Monday are in the midst of their 2½ years of mandatory national service. When their stint is up, many will go to college ¿ becoming
classmates with those protesters.

About 100 members of the KNP toured Yongsan Garrison at the installation¿s invitation Monday. A handful of policemen received certificates of appreciation for their service from Area II commander Col. Ron Stephens at the Army Community Services building, where the KNP guests watched two short films.

I think that is an excellent program. I thought it would be good for the spouse clubs to bring hot chocolate and cookie to them in the winter time to show our appreciation. They do a thankless job and it is good to see them get rewarded.

I always felt bad for those guys being stuck out there all the time because of the Hanchongnyun types who continue to cause problems in Korea. I used to get coffee from our camp's DFAC for those guys standing out there late at night during the winter to help them keep warm. It was the least we could do for the thankless job they do.
