We need to stop sending idiots to Korea! Yet another soldier acting like a child and giving the U.S. a bad name.

My favorite part of the article: Hayden, with the 2nd Infantry Division, was questioned Wednesday at the Yongsan-gu police station, according to Kim. The soldier told investigators that he doesn’t remember the incident, Kim said.
He'll blame it on the soju and seek alcohol counseling. I don't know if that still works or not, but 'back in the day' to admit to a alcohol/drug problem and seeking treatment-one time only though, saved a lot of people the full coarse the UCMJ. Disclaimer here: I'm not poking fun at drunks or junkies. Such problems have been in the military for years and until I figure the last 20-30 years or so a one-time treatment pass was available to save one career and so on. I've seen individuals inthe civilian sector who have multiple treatment episodes. 14 treatmetn episodes is the most I've seen and a 28 day program regardless of government or private isn't enough time to get right. Self-help groups are available, but 28 days sober and not dealing with changing behaviors is a recipe for failure regardless of age and so on. Another disclaimer here: I not saying that the EUSA or whoever has the final say so regarding the outcome of this to go easy on him. Hayden needs to complete whatever punishment he gets and spend @ least 90 days in an in-patient program, which should extend his service by 90 days as well. Something tells me however that only 28 days is available and attendence in aftercare for 6 weeks is allthat is available. |
