Chosun Gift Shop
I want to go up to the Chosun gift shop. I'll be taking the metro and getting off at the Samgakji station that is by Gate 1. Can someone give me directions to the gift shop from gate 1? If it's too far to walk, I'd like to take the post shuttle bus. What kind of route do they take there? Is it just a circle around the base?

Re: Chosun Gift Shop
I'm glad you told us. That would be terrible to make the trip up there and then not be able to go in because you can't bring your child in. We don't have to worry about that yet because we don't have children, but I'll make sure my friends know before they head up there.

Re: Chosun Gift Shop
From gate 1 it is a bit of a walk, you would probably be better off gloing to Itaewon station and going in gate 10.
I am pretty sure there is a slightly shorter way, but this is how I recall it. By shorter I mean only a few hundred feet... any way... From gate 1, continue straight past the PX/ Food Court, cross the street nat the stop sign (the road is blocked to vehicle traffic at this point just for reference). Walk over the bridge, past the Dragon Hill Lodge, down the hill, past Popeye's and all that stuff. When you get to the T intersection turn left (past the pedstrian overpass and the fire station). As you are walking, look on your left and you should see it, it is not as big as the commercials make it sound, but you should be able to spot it. You may even be able to see it before you get to the intersection in which case you should obviously take that more direct route. From gate 10 you are basically starting at the Dragon, so the directions still apply. |

SS gave good info! All correct. (No bus goes by gate 1.) Gate 1 is the closest entrance to the PX & Main Snack Bar & Bus Station.
For the Chosun, and least walking, I suggest the easiest way by subway, if you are coming up on the blue line from The Hump or Osan, is get off at #429, Shin Yongsan, and come out by the Yongsan Post Office exit (nearest exit to the ticket sales window), walk up steps and bear right up first street (nearest to the Sand Colored PO), Past the city office on your right, and continue past the bird park in to Gate 19. All that was only one block! Just inside Gate 19 is a bench where the bus will take you anywhere on Post, and the bus stop for the Chosun gift Shop is by the grade school, just before Burger King. The Driver will assist you. The hospital is a two block walk from gate 19. The Chosun gift shop is 4 long blocks. Walk up and over two hills three long blocks until you see a traffic light. you can go left, or straight to approach the area where the Theatre, Thrift Shop, Snack Bar, Furniture Store, Shoppette, Chosun Gift Shop, Craft Shops and Beauty Shop And ATM are located. Kids of safe age can wait in the Snack Bar (Charlies) while you go to the Chosun, which normally Opens Wednesday and Saturday Only! Thrift shop opens M,W,Sat. Re: Chosun Gift Shop from the subway
Go to my previous articles in this forum under "Re: is the Electronics Market worth the trip?"
For a revised way to travel in to Gate 19 of the Yongsan Army Post. It explains, not so simply, how to get off at Yongsan Station and walk to Gate 19. A 20 minute walk, but faster access to the Post than riding up to Seoul Station, Changing trains, coming BACK down to Shin Yongsan, and into gate 19. It is confusing at first. Better copy those directions an put them in your wallet, as Seoul signs are mostly in Korean.
