Re: [GI Korea] Anti-American T-shirts For Sale in Itaewon

I saw this in Iteawon a few weeks ago. I was pissed. The shirts should say "I am British" or something else...not "I am NOT..." That is just messed up.

Wrong, this is clearly a slam against Americans that this jerk is using to make some money. he is only now denying it because a spotlight is on him now, in a country where there are many American expats and GI's. he probably doesn't want his a-- kicked.

Re: [GI Korea] Anti-American T-shirts For Sale in Itaewon

If he is selling the number claimed then it must be more than "White Canadians" buying them. Probably a few Americans try to hide their identify by wearing such a T shirt. The MP blotters are full of curfew violaters who claim to be from another country when busted. Of course their slured British accent doesn't always fool the MPs (Hair cut is a dead giveaway). Actually the Nigerians try to claim to be American military personnel and trick korean women into situations they regret later.

Re: [GI Korea] Anti-American T-shirts For Sale in Itaewon

I think it's actually a good product, not to mention that it is quite witty. Just imagine how frustrated he might have been after being asked whether he was an American by every single person he met in Korea. Good products and ideas come from unexpected incidents, and I think he is quite intelligent to come up with an actual product. The anti-Americanism that some of you claim does not seem to apply here. It's just a smart dude making some bucks off of his frustration. I say that's a very smart thing to do. In fact, I think it was him who was offended numerously by people's presumption that he was from the States.

Re: [GI Korea] Anti-American T-shirts For Sale in Itaewon

So if I visit a place where mostly Canadians live (outside of Canada) should I get frustrated when people think I am Canadian?

Should a black American visiting Africa get angry when people assume he is African? The fact is most "western looking" people in Itaewon are American. It might be because of the huge Army Garrison parked right near it.

It is silly to get frustrated because you look like the majority, non-Korean population. I think a black American would look silly if he produced a T-Shirt stating, "I am not African."

How are his sales doing now I wonder?
