Cool Back from Las Vegas

I went to Las Vegas for a few days, but am back to the old grind since Monday, the 6th.
Took a hop (C-12) from Osan to Atsugi Navy Base, train to Yokota AFB, C-5
direct to Travis AFB, C-17 to Miramar Marine Base, San Diego, bus to Airport, Southwest Airlines to Las Vegas $79 . Total cost, including 3 nights lodging and bus & train fare: $178.00. Two rainy nights in Japan were bad, considering no bases had taxis or base buses after normal hours, and eating facilities were far from the passenger terminals. None of the bases would be considered user friendly to Space-A travelers. But it was cheap. After figuring in pay lost from using leave, it may not have been worth it.
Flew back non-stop from Las Vegas to Kimpo on KAL in 10 hours. $800 plus taxes. AirGorila.com is good. Good Flight-Good Food-Great Service.

Re: Back from Las Vegas

My roundtrip ticket from Inchon to SF costs me $950 w/ Singapore Airline. I think mine is a bit cheaper and take less time lol. Thanks for the info though; I don't think I will be using the Space-A afterall.

Wow! Ya done good! If we post our experiences, there is no guarantee others will do as well, or as poorly, but we can all learn something! Life is an adventure. Step up to the plate and swing!

Re: Back from Las Vegas

My wife is going back this summer and from DFW the cheapest I could find was $1300+ thanks for the new place to search. Joe I have found Space A is an option if you have time but if you are on a schedule it never seems to work out for me.

Re: Back from Las Vegas

The nonstop flight from Las Vegas to Incheon is a recent thing. Three times a week. I suspect it will become popular with tourists. There was a large group of Filipinos on board, bound for Manila. If you watch for a Casino Special flight from DFW for Vegas it might be good.

Re: Back from Las Vegas

I use to always use KAl but recently I feel they are the most expensive A/L. Of course if you go non-stop you have to go with who provides the service. I would think discount tickets are still availabe through the travel office. For those in the states who wish to come to Korea to visit there may be a way to get cheaper flights. A few years ago (11) when I was in the US I needed to get a round trip ticket to Korea. I went to to local travel office and noticed the prices were more than I was use to paying with Asiana. I called the toll free number at Asiana and got reservations on the phone and then ask them to "transfer the ticket" to the local travel office in the state I was located. They did and I paid a $10.00 fee to the local travel office for processing the ticket.

Of course with E tickets this bit of advice may be ancient history. But no harm in trying.
I also was allowed to purchase the discounted (military rate) tickets from the on post travel office once and sent them to an individual who was in the states. Saved about $500.00. The individual in the states had an ID card and was eligible for military rate tickets.I am going to post a new threat and see what information others may have on prices etc.
