Jazz Club ivo Yongsan?
I heard there was a jazz club near the Hamilton Hotel, but a few minutes of walking didn't turn one up. Anyone have a lead? Thanks in advance!

I saw a sign yesterday that, I believe, said Jazz Club. It was up on the second floor, back at an angle, probably visible across the street while standing near or west of the new Burger King. There is/was another in jazz place a doorway just west of the Hamilton: small sign, steps leading up?
Stop at the tourist kiosk across from the Hamilton and get some of the free local maps & brochures for new listings. Itaewon is a good place to shop, but not for bargain hunters. The nice clubs are interspersed with less desirable ones. Try the Wolfhound sometime. Last edited by Mr. Joe : 02-08-2008 at 08:35 AM. |

Re: Jazz Club ivo Yongsan?
Honestly, stop one of the CP's and ask them where the good clubs are. They are in and out of EVERY club down there, so they know what is good and what is not. They also have maps to show you where the good clubs are and they can tell you which ones to avoid (off limits for bad stuff).
I know there is a Jazz club, and it is before the Hamilton on the left side upstairs, but the name is escaping me. Man... seriously just grab one of the CP dudes and ask them! |

THE CHANGING FACE OF ITAEWON Happy Lunar New Year!
I just took a walk down the main street in Itaewon. My info on the second story club turned out to be A REGGAE Club, not JAZZ. But I did find the one on the left side on the way from the new Burger King walking toward the Hamilton. Watch for the new NIKE store; a white marble front with only the NIKE Trademark in red on the second story level. Very nice authorized dealership. The very next tiny doorway leads to a motel;attached to it is the sign for ALL THAT JAZZ, and the entrance is a black marble stairway. You have to look up to read the name from the street. It serves food, and I can't guarantee live music, as I have never gone up. But this is all you get until the guitar guru reads this and sets you straight. I can now tell you how to get to SANTORI's Italian place! It is almost impossible, as there is no sign that I could see coming from the West. It appears to be the new location. Go past the Hamilton a block or so and you will see the large stone Tortoises and miniature ponies on the sidewalk. Ahead you will see the ALI BABA restaurant sign above eye level. Walk past the ALI BABA and immediately make a 90 degree LEFT turn. You will be standing at the front door of SANTORI's!! ((Opens at Five). (There is a vertical sign visible only from the East.) Ask prices before you purchase a drink! Lots of changes as pubs and stores come and go! By now you would think the signs and brochures would show that Burger King has moved from in front of the Hamilton down to Inside the Bank closer to McDonald's. Most have not. The old Burger King site is now QUIZNOS! and STONE'S CREAMERY. I really like QUIZNOS Sanwiches! (If you are going to pay $8 for a sandwich, it should be good!) It may be more there. Subway is still a good choice, not far from the Outback. Of course the KFC beside the Hamilton is my favorite! Don't forget Saturday is the Seoul Computer Club meeting at the USO across from Yongsan Gate 1! Meet me there at 1:45 for the 2:00 meeting. Be my guest! CP means Courtesy Patrol, but I don't know how to meet one.
Just call the MP's at Yongsan, I'd guess. |

Very simple, they are walking around every night starting at about 9 pm and they are in uniform with a big arm band that says CP on it! |
