Soldier investigated in Seoul rape, robbery case

Another idiot GI making the rest of us look bad.

Pacific edition, Saturday, November 19, 2005

Quote:
SEOUL — A U.S. soldier is being investigated by the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on attempted rape and robbery charges, officials confirmed this week.

South Korean police forwarded the charges to the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, said Sin Dong-gyu of the Seoul prosecutor’s office.

Police officials told Stripes they suspect 20-year-old Pfc. Franklin Brian Christopher broke into an off-post barbershop around 1 a.m. Oct. 30 and threatened a worker with a fake gun, demanding money and sex. A detective said the soldier took about $60 from the woman and attempted to rape her before she was able to press an alarm button. Police responded and apprehended the soldier.

The detective said police wanted to hold the soldier, who works for the 121st Medical Hospital, but that the local facilities didn’t meet standards required to hold U.S. suspects.

8th Army officials confirmed a soldier had been apprehended and said the military is cooperating fully with the investigation.

What was running through this kid's mind?? His brain has got to be twisted pretty bad to think of sex while robbing someone.
He better hope he doesn't end up in a prison where he becomes the victim.

Hard to say anything constructive without the whole story. Based on my first thought- he is a male, out after curfew, in a "barbershop", with a female, claiming she was "raped" and lost $60.00? Knowing of previous similar stories, and that "barbershop girl" in the Korean language has a meaning 180 degrees out from ours, and adding the fact that $60 is about the going fee for services rendered by such a girl-could it be that he just didn't, or couldn't, pay up? Learn also that a barber pole in a Korean neighborhood doesn't always indicate the presence of a tonsorial parlor!
Again- let's apply the good old American theory- innocent until proven guilty- and wait until all the "facts" come out.
